I opened a credit card for my daughter in her name when she was in collage,for which she knew because i was broke getting her into school i charged two bills on card with her and she was suppose to be paying it well she hasnt and now shes claiming that i got the card without her concent. bottom line the balance has to b paid and i would like the account name switched to my name and cut the ties with her on this canr this be done

Where can I find the law regarding pay day loans in NYC

I have several questions and issues that i need addressed but my main question has to do with going back to school after defaulting? I am currently applying to medical school but i recently defaulted on some private student loans. am i essentially ineligible to receive any form of loans and financial assistance? The collection agency(DCS) that is representing my guarantor is being very mum on my options and how i can go about resolving the issue besides paying in full or putting down a large down payment. both options are impossible for me at this point.

I live in IL & just read that there is now something called "small consumer loans" as an alternative to PDLs & at a much lower interest rate. Part of the IL regulations that were recently passed (at least that's what I read). Anybody know anything about these? I know this is a "get out of debt" forum, but many of us get payday loans as a last resort & often for bare necissities - like paying the rent or being able to feed our kids. These loans seemed more reasonable as far as the interest rate goes - I wonder if there's a catch or they are just as bad as PDLs.

I called the company and they claimed they were collecting for two payday loans for two different companies.

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. About two weeks ago my husband and I received a notice from the IRS saying that a 1099 was filed on our 09 taxes we didn't report, and they wanted us to pay this big amount within 30 days or call and make payments or dispute it. The thing is, we never received the 1099-c to add to our taxes that year for one. Secondly, this is for a car that was a voluntarily repossed back in 1997! We knew back then we needed to pay the difference but we tried to work with the dealership that said they sold the car for $500 (7,000) car.

I am curious has anyone received a refund from Magnum Cash Advance I got a email saying they were considering it paid in full and they gave me an address to send a refund request but i have not heard anything. So I was just wondering if anyone has gotten one from them ??

About 15 years ago I had an account with Providian which defaulted then they sold it to one collection after another until the amount owed was over $2,000 (for an original debt of $150). In the end Midland bought it and has caused grief ever since. 6 years ago I pulled my credit report and it listed Midland 12 times for the same original creditor being Providian. I fought the listings with the reporting agencies and finally won and they were deleted. I receive daily phone calls (at 8 am and 8 pm like clockwork) including weekends from Midland saying they want their money.

They called my sister and told her that if my husband does not call back by today, they will go ahead and sue him, but he never received word from them to begin with.
