my ex took a payday loan out in my name 4 years ago.. and now im being threatened to be taken to court, i live in nc and the loan was in the amount of 1,000$ and now they have stated that i must pay 2000 plus court cost and such ..and just really trying to figure out what to do .. my hubby just got out of the corp and money is tight ..what should i do ..any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have three outstanding payday loans in MA, which I just found out is a state where payday loans are illegal. With the fees they've charged me I have more than paid off the principal for each loan. What are my next steps to get out of this? I can't pay my other bills because I'm stuck with these ridiculous interest charges and I'm falling more behind every day on legitimate bills. Help! I received a loan from Star Cash, paid them off and a couple of months later I recived another loan. I was laid off and I called them to ask for some time to pay them back, I was told that I needed to pay back the whole thing by a certain time and I told them that I could not promise them that because I was waiting for my unemployment to start. The next thing I know someone is calling me threating to take me to court for check fraud and I will have to end up paying more. I live in SC, what can I do?

Someone I know has co-signed on his wife's student loans and they have since divorced and she is in default. He now lives somewhere around Bogota Columbia and I still get calls.(we shared an apartment). Can they go after him in a third world country or will they go after her with a law suit?

they are getting off on that 89.00 fee and then they dont tell you that they will keep taking it until you are ready to pay it off . then they call your house or place of employment saying they are the FBI do they know thats a federal crime to in personate a federal agent and that what i told them they not gonna debt my account any more i will mail the 200 .00 to them

I recieved a disturbing phone call today from a something&associates, I do not recall the name off the top of my head, but they are doing the same thing I have seen written on here before, telling me that if I do not pay almost 900 dollars in 12 hours they will send me a subpeona and put out a warrant for my arrest in the county I live in. I am correct in saying that I will not go to jail over debt correct? Debt is civil not criminal? The first woman I talked to was very hostile with me saying that my situation warrants her to be rude to me.

I was sent a dunning letter from a lawyer's office on behalf of CashNet USA. I did notice at the bottom it had the usual I have the 30 days to send them a debt verification. I also noticed, however, that it said if I send them a debt verification request they will either send that verification, or a judgment against me. I thought they couldn't get a judgment if I ask for verification? Will the courts really rule in their favor if I just ask them to prove the debt? Also, funny thing I got this letter about a month after I recieved a class action settlement letter for CashNet USA.

Calling relentlessly, have sent nothing in the mail. I attempted for months working with the credit card account they purchased, got nowhere. It has now been 10 years! The account does not show up on my credit reports any longer. How do I get rid of these harrassing calls?
