Are there any pay day loans legal in New York? all on line loans. If you live in NY and get a paid day loan what state prevails?:sad:

Got a call from guy on my home phone. He told my wife he needed me to sign papers but wouldn't say what company he worked for or what the papers were about. She didn't give him any information as he sounded very sketchy. Several days later same guy called left voicemail saying he was coming to my employment and would serve papers - if I needed info to call 855-398-3352 - with a File #.

Today myself (at work), my mother in law, sister in law and my supervisor have all recieved a call from a "locator" called Consolidated Mitigation saying they wanted to "find" me and serve me with papers to sue me for check fraud related to a payday loan I took out with Authorized "Payday.com" in June 2008. The loan in question was an error on APD's part and was drafted in full from my bank account on 12/02/2011.

I received a "special civil part summons" in the mail today from the NJ Civil Court on behalf of Goldman & Warshaw for an alleged debt they say I owe. I called Goldman & Warshaw and spoke with "Tracey", who already knew my name before I said it. She asked me to verify my identy by giving her my SS#, however, I did not do this. This is the FIRST correspondence I have received from GW. She told me she would be happy to send me out the Debt Validation, certified mail. Shouldn't this be something that GW should send PRIOR to sueing you?

my daughter received a check for 500.00 from her grandpa that is drawn on a bank with locations only in florida.we are in minnesota. neither one of us are able to open a checking account and my husband does not have enough in his account to cover it in order to cash it for her. what can she do?

I recently had an encounter with dorsey thornton, i never recieved any notifiction of any debt, then they called me stating there would be a warrant out for my arrest if i didn't pay them $5000. the woman i spoke with didn't let me get a word in, instead of answering my questions just yelled at me about the law. told me i was a criminal and had committed a felony, and deserved to go to prison.

Due to the info posted here and the advice of the NY Attorney General, I decided to close my account. But before I do so and start the harassing calls, how can I stop them from calling? Can they sue me or garnish my wages? Or is it all empty verbal threats? Will a hard debit be the same as closing the account? I intend on sending the cease and desist letter and I'm willing to only pay back the principal even though, I already overpaid one loan for $300 from Advanceme today. I have two other loans $200 VIPLoanShop and $1250 Cashyes. Please help!
