Has anyone ever settled a loan with Sallie Mae for the base amount, and not including late fees, penalties? If so, how did you do it? I'm 771 days past due, with a total amount due $4700.00. I got a call from thier collections stating that I owe about $6500.00 with all the fees. 1. Can I bring it down to managable levels? also 2. What if I just paid the total amount owed through the website, would the fees, etc.

I was served papers on capitalOnes behalf basically threatening to sue well the debt is only $918. and some odd change not too bad compared to others ive read...i have paid off 3 other creditors in the past year capt one is my last outstanding the other creditors settled and my question was am i able to request settlement after ive been served with court papers..or by not contacting them within the thirty days have i agreed the amount is correct therefore having to pay said amount??

hi I had an internet loan from Speedycash. They are not licensed in Louisiana but says that they follow Missouri's laws on their website. Is this a legal lender? I know they go by Tiger Financial as well and that isnt licensed here either. I thought in Louisiana they had to follow La laws?

About six months ago, I received a call from MRS Associates in regards to a defaulted loan (a car loan). I know that there is a balance owed on this loan and I set up a payment plan to pay it off. When I checked my credit report, it is reported as written off. When I talked to the person at MRS and asked for a statement, I was told that they "don't do paper statements and there was not an account number" . I was given a bank account number to deposit my payment into. I am concerned because I don't have proof that the money I'm paying is going towards this debt. What should I do next?

I paid 1200 dollars on a 500 dollar loan, THEN found out it was the interest only! OK I didn't read the small print that well. Now Unified PS Group is contacting me to have me pay either "in full" the amt of 855 dollars or immediately 655 (special pay off amt). Either way I am trying not to pay them ANY more money. Is this possible? Are they truly illegal in the state of CA? I need FACTS not hearsay, please?

I recieved a phone call today from HPC.. naive of me I thought it was for a job I had applied for and got sucked in to a discussion of a debt 4 years ago I havee. I purchased some couches and paid for a couple of months. As life went sour, I stopped paying and recieved letters but I neglicted them at my fault. My debt is 2,847 dollars and this guy stated that this phone call was to prevent from them taking me to court.
