Someone called my 80 year old grandmother and told her that the call was a court office summons, gave her a case number over the phone and left a 1800 number for me to call. I suspect this is a bill collector using a scare tactic. My grandmother contacted me panicked by the incident and information she received and documented. Is this legal???

Does anyone kno what the laws are in Vancover?

A local Emergency Consultant company in Florida (Billing agent for local hospital?) sent my bill to a collection agency without notifying me I was delinquent on charges. The Debt Collector called me, I paid the bill and I received a copy of the letter the Debt Collection agency sent the Emergency Consulting Agency showing the account XXXXXX was paid in full for the amount of $20.60.

So I've settled about $80K in cc debt with various companies with virtually no headache at about 30% for the larger accounts and around 40-50% for some smaller ones (didn't want to quibble over some of it...just wanted to get it out of the way). Have about $20K remaining between Discover and BoA. Discover has been adamant about not settling but I finally got someone to go to 80% of the total, so they are loosening up. They've been pretty firm up until now and are still trying to maintain that but it's obvious that things are coming closer to charge-off. BoA?

I will give you a brief overview of my situation. Credit card debt 25,000$. I am paying 1700$ a month for a mortgage payment(includes insurance and taxes) my interest rate is 7.5% on my mortgage.I owe 178,000 on my house. I make 60,000 my wife makes 30,000. My vehicle is paid off my wife pays 400 a month for our car. Realizing we are barely making our payments. I went to my bank for refinancing help. They would not refinance my house loan. They said my debt to income ratio was too poor. They advised me to claim bankruptcy! Rather than lower my rate.

I've negotiated a debt settlement over the phone with Stellar Recovery Inc. I insisted on something in writing to which I have received an email. Is this a legally binding settlement or will they pursue more money after they get the settlement?

Back in 2009 I received a letter from a collection agency for an overdue credit card debt. At the time, I didn't have the money to pay, so I sent them a debt validation letter and never heard from them again. Then, in 2010, wanting to get this off of my credit report, I contacted them and told them I wanted to settle this matter. They had me send them a letter stating I wanted to resolve this matter, I would like to remove the cease and desist order, and I would like to have good communication with them.

Is there a HUGE (no pun intended lol) demand for viagra or something? I can not believe the spam which is soliciting viagra at this forum. Good gosh! I delete hundreds of spam daily for viagra alone.
