I have a debt with Capital One and they sent it to Nelson Watson and Associates. My husband made 2 settlement offers to them and they did not respond back. Now I got a letter from an Attorneys office in my state DEMANDING full payment, if they don't get it they will sue me. What should I do? Should I get an attorney?

In the Fall of 2008 I took out a $300.00 internet loan with LoanPoint USA. Over the following four months they withdrew a total of $1250.00 from my checking acct. and they said that was all interest I still owed $300.00 plus another $300.00 interest. I closed my checking acct. (after finding this site) and sent them a letter to let them know I knew they had no license in Mississippi. (I checked with the Mississippi Banking and Consumer Protection Office on this.) LoanPoint did call me (and my place of employment) for a couple of months after that--but eventuall they quit calling.
