I currently have a debt that is in collections pertaing to a Verizion bill that is 3 yrs old. As some may know Verizion has had a class action lawsuit brought against them for frauargesdulent charges pertaining specifically to data charges. Consumers were being charged for things that they were unaware of (ex. the middle button on your phone where your would go into your menu if that button were to be pushed by your child, by you on accident people were being charged 1.99 or even more in some instances, just for pushing that button) Verizion aknowledged this mistake.

Hello all! Because I trusted the wrong individual, I've recently obtained a number of online pay day loans. I cannot pay the charges on these loans. Unfortunately, after extensive reading on this forum, it appears that online lenders can legally operate in Louisiana. I have a repo debt with Wells Fargo, and I contacted the debt collection company handling the balance. The balance is about $7k, and I had originally agreed to settle the debt, paid them $500, and then am to pay $2.5k in a couple of days.

If I already have a court date, can I still make a deal to pay that amount?

I had six payday loans that were all through companies that were not licensed in the state of CA and three of those six had been issued desist and refrain orders by the CA Department of Corporations. I closed my bank account and on the first day that the payments did not go through, I did receive phone calls as well as emails. I communicated only through emails and sent a copy of the letter from Shazzers' link about them operating illegally in CA. I went back and forth with two lenders (Eastside Lenders and Think Cash) on emails.

I had a sheriff visit me today serving me with papers for LVNV. They are taking us to court .. I know we owe Kay Jewlers, so I do not mind paying..BUT I want to know, is there anything we should do? Or just show up to court with our check book? Will they settle with out going to court? Thank You!

there are lots of stories here about settlements for various percentages. is there an assumption about what's usually included in the settlement? eg, principle only, principle+interest after default, principle+interest after default+lawyer fees, etc? thx

right now im confused on what to do: either to file chapter 7, chapter 13, debt consolidation....l just paid one creditor $12,000 of the $16,000 loan of course with interest...Two weeks after, another creditor send me another default judgement for the amount of $10,000 including interest, attorneys fees, etc....I only owed them $7,883. im willing to give them $3000 because that is all i have....but they wont take it...they rather do wage garnishment instead of my offer....i own a house for 2 years now and my parents co-sign with me... I had a foreclosure 1.5 years ago. What to do?
