Is it true that ultimately a couple has to pay more tax if both of them earns in comparison to one of them earning?

8 years 5 months ago
Is it true that ultimately a couple has to pay more tax if both of them earn in comparison to one of them earning? My friend Emily's husband used to work and they filed tax jointly but now Emily has got a job but the salary is not much. Her friend has suggested to check out whether or not they'll have to pay much more since they file jointly. Since she won't be earning much, so if they calculate, they'll have to pay more tax than what she'll earn in a year.

SOL in Ca question

8 years 5 months ago
I live in Ca I was just contacted by a company out of Atlanta saying that HSBC is going to take legal action against me for an unpaid balance and that I will be served by the sheriff, if I don't agree to the amount. I requested something in writing they told me that they could only do that if I agreed to pay. This balance is from 2012 (I was under the impression that the SOL in Ca was 4 yrs). He said that he had negotiated a settlement on my behalf and that I had received it, however the address he said I lived at is more than 6 yrs old.

Great Plains Lending Charging More Than Initially Agreed Upon

8 years 5 months ago
Hi Soaplady, I noticed you have answered a few question regarding GPL. I live in WI and had a 1,000 loan from then back in July. Upon looking at the WI payday loan regulations, the max amount including fees & interest is 1,500 and 90 days in duration. I have already paid about 1,2000 total but they are claiming I still owe due to interest. Should I send them a letter with that information stating I will not make any further payments, or what is your suggestion? Everytime I call them its a different story, or they "lost a payment" (I keep all my receipts), just very suspicious.
