I am beyong thrilled that I found a forum where people like myself are trying to get out of debt the doing it yourself way and there are people who will offer us newbies advise(thank you). Before I "throw in the towel" and stop paying on my credit cards I have a few questions: 1. Should there be a certain amount of time I should wait before I stop paying if I have recently used the card? (was not for a cash advace nor was is for a huge $$ amount of stuff that was bought) 2.

i never heard from this firm but i checked my credit report and they now have me in collections.

I requested several banks to remove inquiries made by them. I sent them certified letters 4 months ago and never got a reply. I went ahead and disputed it with Equifax and they told me that they were legit. Those inquiries where never authorized by me, also it has been more than the 30 days allowed by law for the lenders to reply. Where can I find a sample letter that I can send them indicating that they are past the 30 day deadline and that now by law they have to remove these inquiries.

What is the best way to get rid of substantial amounts of unsecured debt?

Finally I feel like I getting somewhere on this journey. At the beginning of December we thought we had a deal with Chase but when they sent the paperwork it was not what we agreed to (paying off 2 accounts combined they wrote it as paying off only 1 so check that paperwork CAREFULLY). Finally at the end of the year we got them to agree to what was originally verbally agreed to and we got the correct paperwork this morning. What a relief! So 2 Chase accounts settled at just under 25% at about 160-165 days. And last week we settled with Discover!

Help! I closed my checking account at Bank of America this morning. However,they say it will pend for 30 days . So if the payday lenders try to debit my account they will be able to do so. What can I do? They say there is no way they can do a Hard Close!
