I have been told that California is a Homestead State and as such, credit cards can not file liens on my home. I have not filed a Homestead on my home, but the research I have found states that there is a automatic exemption. Is that true ? Thanks Tammy Below is the article I am referencing. I have bounced checks that keep going through the bank and charging additional fees. Would i be better to put a stop payment and then pay the store off. Also if I put a stop payment on the check will it also stop the automatic fee of $25 the store puts on my account

I was informed by my employer that a CA was about to garnish my wages. I then called the CA and negotiated a payment plan. They have my checking account info and had within a sum to start off with. I assumed this was going to continue every month. Then I was called this morning from the same collector. They are starting up the garnishment again. They had said that I did not return a form that they had emailed me. I triple checked my email and not found no such form. Not in the inbox, deleted box, or the junk mailbox.
