On Tuesday, I got a call from Capital One saying they were doing a security check and wanted to confirm things with me. I found this odd and told them no I'm not confirming my credit card details with someone over the phone! Do you think this was a scam call or have been grumpy at capital one?

Midland Financial has issued a levy on our checking account. We have NEVER heard of this company, nor were we ever served with court papers. Our banking institution is how we found out about this. What do we do now? I have read horrible things about Midland! We are in Tennessee.

Hi Guys, I have settled 2 of my accounts with HSBC for 42% of the balance on a 3000.00 account and 30% on a 1000.00 account. I have two more to settle with them and I am working on the mother load of 5500.00. I have gotten all the letters like everyone else tothe 42% one and am waiting on the 30% one some say they have received in a lump sum payment. I never received a letter for the 30% on my 1000.00 account when I called in I was offered that to pay in a lump sum so I took it.

I took an online PDL for $200 from Kenwood Services back in June 2010. I repaid approximately $100. At that time I needed to make payment arrangements, and advised them I was revoking ACH authorization, and also contacted them advising I would be able to pay via US Mail, Moneygram or Western Union.

I sent these guys over $3200, but they never did a thing to help me--told me to IGNORE the phone calls from creditors, etc, and to send them any mail notices from collection agencies that I received. Well, maybe the collection agencies are aware of this, I don't know, but after getting a notice about a lawsuit sent from a lawyer, I cancelled my account with GHS--who sent me a paltry $232 back and fed me a line of nonsense that only a lawyer could follow. Bottom line: they ripped me off for over $3000 and didn't do diddly-squat for me.

I have 7 payday loans and live in MO. I am going to try and get a consolidation loan. I have also checked into Relief, LLC, but have figured out that they will be charging me almost $1000 just to help me...so, that scares me. Here are the loans I have : 1. American Check Casher...it is in collections and the people that call me say they are with Money Mart. I owe them $535...but, have paid them thousands and thousand of dollars in interest in the years that I did business with them. 2. Loan by Phone (Check into Cash)...Currently owe $216.00 3.

I had an internet payday loan with The Loan Shop/Westbury Ventures. I have paid $ 800 on a $350 payday loan. I stopped payment with my bank. After that they changed their ACH name and withdrew another $520. My bank has since credited me for that amount. I just received a call from Ms. Davis stating they are getting ready to file paperwork and I must send a settlement amount of $ 380 to them by money gram today. I have paid $ 560 over the original loan amount. The company states they are in Delaware, I am in Arizona, isn't there a cap on charges.

Every so often there will be posts here asking if any of the posters recognize a telephone number. What I usually do is "google" the number to see what's out there. As many of you know, there's several phone number ID sites available; perhaps if any of us know that a particular phone number is a PDL, we could post on the phone ID sites (such as whocallsme, etc) that the # IS a PDL or a scammer collection agency and provide some information? And maybe if it's permitted on the website, that if people ARE having PDL problems, there's a site called debtconsolidationcare that can help?
