I owe about 50,000 in credit card debt. I am not sure if I should try to take out a loan at 10.5% or call a debt consolidation company.

Yeah, I'm one of the many getting repeated calls. I have caller ID so, I don't answer 866, etc. prefixes. Sometimes a message is left, many times not. I have a feeling these calls are an attempt to collect on a defaulted account from 1993. My question is, after 7 years, isn't a dept washed out? I have stellar current credit, but had some money issues in the early 90's. Also, if I answer the phone and politely ask them to not call anymore, isn't illegal for them to do so?

I signed with them (bella) in june 2008; they filed bankruptcy in may 2010 after settling one credit card; they owe me $4000. They filed chapter here in texas and re-opened in delaware under mt view financial with the same owner, same employees- same office! I went in personally and they acted like they didn't know me, i have called and e-mailed owner mike hauser and rita moore-barber repeatedly. I filed an ag complaint and bbb. Bbb doesn't help much, hope the ag does. They do not have the professionalism to respond and they even spelled "consulting " wrong on their website...

I saw a commercial for Ally Bank on TV and looked at their website. They offer higher than average rates for savings accounts, free debit cards, free checks, no ATM fees and seem like a good bank. I opened an account, and other than one minor glitch with the security questions (they couldn't identify me so I had to call in), they opened my account and sent my welcome back. Does anyone (MCA?) know anything about them? I'm on EWS, so I'm not sure if I should worry about my account being closed later on...thoughts? comments? experiences?

I am hoping that I can get some guidence. My mother just rcvd a call from Goldman Roth Acquisitions and the gentleman started threating her stating that he was going to put a lein against my car (since my mother was also listed on my car) and that my mother needed to give up her last unemployment check to pay off this debt. He stated to my mother that she could go without for a month just so that the debt could get paid. He was very nasty with her.

I work in a law office - This office has received voice mails regarding someone (I cannot understand whom they are referring to as the name is all gumbo jumbo). When I tried calling them they did not answer the phoine and it rang and rang and finally disconnected. Is that a joke? It was an 800 number.

I called my local clerk and they would not give me ANY answers.
