Does collection agency say junk debt buyer sue you or collect on amount that is larger than original amount. I heard that they must collect the same amount as the original balance and that balance may only change if the case goes to court with attorney fees. Is this true ? I have a collector collecting on balance that is extremely higher than original balance. I also know that the interest rate just doesn't add up.

I receieved a loan through a company (Pay Day Hooray) for 500 dollars woth ($200) intreast due. Well due to some unforseen circumstances I was not able to make a payment ontime and emailed my contact with the company to let her know before hand, I asked to be put on some sort of payment plan. She instead suggested that I just take out another loan with the company attaching the contract with her email. HI, I am being sued by Asset Acceptance LLC. I live in Michigan, the original debt was the end of 2004/beginning of 2005. I am not sure of the date. I was contacted several years ago and verbally asked for verification of the debt. I never received it. I received a summons the end of May and sent a letter to the court stating that I asked for debt validation and never recieved it. The court has now sent back a Pre-Trial statement I need to answer with a date in August. I have contacted AA LLC to change the date (as I will be out of town) and left a message with their attorney.
