I had a payday loan from 2007, lost my house, moved 2 x- death of immediate family member...lost track of that debt. Started getting calls (no mail at all) from this collection agency-at work,no less. I asked them not to call me, they were rude, said if I paid my bills they wouldn't have to, etc.Calmed down, and after they said who they were collecting for, offered me a settlement of $461.10 on a $575.00 debt-if I would set up 3 payments.I did, they were paid.

I made a settlement offer to them and they took it 1 month later they placed the balance as current and as past due with no mention of the settlement, but one of the reps sent me a letter saying that my settlement obligation was fulfilled and informed me of the Tax implications for 2011, I received the letter before Experian had disputed it but I have not sent the letter in to the CB's yet. I also want to know is it legal for them to add interest after they get these accounts from the original creditors?

We just got the property tax bill for about $8K. We're in CA. It's due 6/30. We are trying to negotiate a loan mod with Chase and negotiate debt settlement with various CC cos. I do not want to put any money toward the home. We are working with a loan mod company and they are working on trying to get the property tax bundled into the monthly payment. Would be interested to get advice as to whether or not we should pay? Should we contact the county and let them know we can't pay right now? Our first priority is to settle CC debt. We owe about $115K.

I had been paying Arrow for the past six months. I called regarding some automatic payments that were taken out prematurely. The "gentleman", Lee, said there have not been any payments on the accounts. I corrected him firmly. He then agreed and said my accounts were recalled back to Sallie Mae. I asked him "What does that mean?" He simply repeated himself. He then said the accounts were closed. What is going on? I called Sallie Mae and they don't know why Lee said the accounts have been recalled. What should I do?

well I did what I was instructed to do - opened another acct at a new bank, closed my acct with Chase (which they are jerks! - they said they would close it but if any ACH debits come thru it would reopen the acct and I would be held liable for the money - I told them then what is the point of closing the acct?
