I just made a verbal offer to settle with Advanta... I'll spare the details, but we had a difficult past 2 years in our company, and have been working to pull back from the brink. Advanta was one of the nails in our financial coffin... the 8% to 36% interest rate didn't help, and sapped critical cash when we needed it most. We started to fall behind on payments this past winter, and finally were unable to continue paying this account a few months ago.

i have taken a payday loan but cancelled the agreement within the 14 days. I cancelled the direct debit. Now they are taking money via debit card and have rinsed my account. Will I get this back?

My credit union closed my line of credit that I use for overdraft protection on my checking and sent me a letter stating after a regular credit review they found derogatory information. I got my free report from Experian to find out what it was (I had no clue what it could have been.) and it was a doctor's bill that had gone to collections in 2004 that I paid off in one month. I'm fairly sure it was on my credit report right after the account went deliquent in 2004, but it is showing up as first reported 5/2008. Why would it be reported almost 4 years later?

Long Story Short. Trying to lease a new Apartment my credit reflects an Old Debt with Direct Energy and I cannot sign my lease until I pay (I left the account with my name with my old roommates when I moved out 5 years ago, no idea where are they now). I called Direct Energy and they don't have any record of me owing anything, but they can't give me any waiver of financial responsibility or anything and the Credit report doesn't have a phone an address or a Collection Agency name so I can pay (just a "sub# 01f j3001-y" does anybody have seen this?).
