I just saw a clip from a Congressional hearing where Senator Rockefeller called into question the TASC and USOBA trade groups. Does anyone know more about this.........Senator Rockefeller was making the point that the USOBA and TASC basically did not screen or vet their members and that many members were involved in fraudulent practices??

Hello everyone. I don't have any choice but to shout here that I badly needed help. i need $500 for my boarding house expense in June. I am an international student in Hartford, and I don't know how to get $500 only for June, since i can have a support in July. I am trying to look for a job, but there is not much work in hartford for international students especially it is illegal for us to work. I'm an engineer that has been out of work for about 2.5 years now and my family has about 100k in credit card debt. There seem to be so many shady companies out there willing to settle my debt, yet I don't know which ones aren't going to rip me off and run away with my money. I live in Delaware, so from what I've read I could be sued if I stop payment and have my earnings garnished....yet I don't have any asides from unemployment. My goal right now is to land a job and get my debt settled. I plan on trying to pay off my credit cards within 1 year. The question is, who is a legitimate company?

I received a dunning letter a couple weeks ago from Weltman, Weinberg & Reis and promptly sent them a DV via CMRR. But this is an account with LVNV and initially back in Dec 2008 I received a dunning letter from Resurgent. Because I didn't know what I was doing I didn't send Resurgent a DV at the time. I didn't receive anything else from them after the initial letter. Could LVNV now go back to Resurgent to collect/sue without hindrance since I never sent Resurgent a DV even though I now have DV'd the latest collection agency within 30 days of receiving their first letter?

I just received a letter from Regency Credit LLC in Arizona. Apparently my 2nd mortgage with Chase was handed over to them. Has anyone ever settled with them or had good luck dealing with them?

i got a loan through huskhawk for 200 dollars the finance fee was 60 dollars. Now they are threating me and harrasing me saying i have to pay them 545 dollars and they told me i had 30 min to come up with the money or they would issue 5 seperate warrants for my arrest. i asked for more time to pay the loan and i was originaly told yes then i get this call today. and i offered to pay the 260 which is the original amount owed and they refused the amount. Isnt this against the alabama trust and lending law? Can they really put warrant(s) out for my arrest?
