If one creditor, before turning my debt over to collection agency, offered me a chance to settle my debt for 22% and now the collection agency of that debt is offering roughly the same, my question, is can I use this as a strategy to ask all my creditors and collection agencies settle for 22%.

I live in Ky & know that all internet PDL lenders are illegal. I'm gong to put a hard ACH block on my account tomorrow to stop this insanity. Question is this: I have several of these internet PDL's -- some I've paid waaaaay more than I owed, but some I haven't paid the principal off yet. Can I still block those that I haven't paid the principal on yet? Also I have one with Greenlight. Anbody know anything about them - are they illegal in KY also?

I can't log in for some reason so i'm just posting ... this site has been great for me in the past...but now i worry even more about financial future. It took me a while to get myself back to stable finances with paying off past errors, and i certainly learned my lesson with debt and everything else, not that im fully out of it yet and still repairing credit...but i'm pretty responsible, live within means, etc...but i just have to wonder...how in the world do people do it? I make okay money, a bit over 36k in PA...not great, but certainly not poverty.

Hi Guys, I hope I can get an answer today to my concerns. Here is our story; My husband and I filed for Chapter 7 and reaffirmed the mortgage loan on initial forms that we submitted to Trustee. However, we did not contact with our mortgage company before and just continued paying to them like nothing happened. We would like to keep our home no matter what. Mortgage company seems ok with this since we have been talking to them on the phone regarding payment times and everything other than bankruptcy issue. We got Discharge of Debtor already like a month ago.

I have been researching this site for a couple of months and have found it extremely helpful.

I am experiencing extreme financial difficulty related to a medical condition. I need to settle my Heloc (which is under water), my chase CC ($12K) and a Pottery Barn cc ($4700). The problem is I have a finite amt of $$ to settle all of these. The heloc will take all my money if I let them. They are unsecured in California. The pottery barn card is on an interest free period until the summer so they don't even know anything is wrong. For the Chase card I am current at this moment but will not be able to pay on March 11. What is the correct strategy for this?

I live in Texas and I have a payday loan with Sonic Payday that I can't pay. I am willing to make payments. I borrowed $1500 and need to repay $1905 ( I think). I have borrowed with them repeatedly and have always repaid on time. I have paid over $12,000 in interest, but I don't know if this makes a different because each loan is paid off, and then a new loan is initiated. Is this a legal lender?How can I work out an arrangement with them? I don't have a physical address for them.

Received interrogatory and production request with 49 interrogatories and 9 production questions which seemed overly burdensome if I read properly some quidelines in Pennsylvanis Rules of Procedures.I sent 19 interrogatories and 4 production. My primary line of defense so far has been failure on the part of the collection agency to validate properly.

Just wanted to post about Target/Mann Bracken. My Target account was sold to MB in Oct 09. MB was closed in January '10 so my account was sent back to Target. I had to call Target about a dozen times until someone knew what I was talking about. They have a special division dealing with returned MB accounts. The direct number for that division is 800-459-5559. I spoke with them yesterday and settled me account of 8051 dollars for 2550 (they originally wanted 5600 but I only had 2550, so they cut their losses and got paid rather then sell the account again).
