I have a question about credit scores when you get married. First, I have made a huge amount of progress on my personal debt. A few years ago I owed $117,000. $90,000 of that was student loan debt, and $27,000 was credit card debt at 24% interest. Today I have a student loan debt of $50,000 and zero credit card debt! I had to take a job working here in the Middle East to make this happen but I have done it. At my current rate of repayment I will be completely debt-free by December 2011.

This board is fantastic. Kudos to everybody. We have been juggling our debt for years and have finally reached the end. I'm looking for debt settlement of a BofA account. We have credit debt from: BofA: $45,000 CapOne: $12,000 CapOne: $12,000 Chase: $4,000 With family help, we've been able to cover the (horrifying) ~$1,300 per month in min. payments, but I missed our BofA payment early this month when help ended. I could go on and on, but my main question is this: If I stop paying BofA only, will this prevent us from settling?

I got a summon from the fabulous Asset Acceptance LLC, claiming I owe about $1000 to a Capital One Credit Card acct. I have personally go to Capital One Bank branch to find out that there is no such account under my name. And I got the information that it is someone who has the same name as me but with a totally different SSN, DOB and address. However, Capital One is unwilling to help me further, like giving me some document on paper that verify I am not that account holder (even I am a customer of them, don't you like Capital One's attitude?).

Need everyones feedback. I am a seamstress and am trying to make my business profitable doing what I love. I love making new clothes and refashioning old one. I try to get a jump on the latest trends. I recently started making spats. For those of you who don't know what these are, they are the coverings that men use to wear that cover the ankle and top of shoes. Bands also use the when the march. I make them out of funky fabric such as animal print or other cool fabric. They went over okay but not great. I would like to target teen fashions.

I have CBE group calling saying I owe money on a student loan from 1989. The problem is that the loan was made when I was 17 and I never signed for a student loan. The company has no documents to show that I signed for this loan but are threatening to garnish my wages. What should I do?

I found FreedomFromCreditors.org also called Plan B and was wondering if anyone knows how (or if) they are different? I am really worried and can't seem to get a good feel for what I should do next. I need $1000 in a week for my next round of CC payments and I don't have it! I just can't imagine NOT paying them... I really need some help here.

my son attended a private preschool in tucson. I got laid off and kept the school abreast of our financial difficulties. the school director adv ised me not to withdraw him and that if I volunteered at the school he would reduce my tuition. he never agreed to give a value to it or put it in writing. We ended up having to leave because our lease was up and we could no longer afford to live there. we moved to phoenix, 2 hours away. i tried to contact the school to continue the work so that he would bill me for all the tuition in one shot. he never took my calls and never answered an email.

My BOA payments are $520 a month with a 32k balance.. I took a $1200 a month pay cut I spoke to BOA and told them I could not afford the payment, they suspended all fees and cut interest in half for 12 months as long as I make a new payment of $235 a month (which I can do) then they will review my situation... am I lucky dont think it will affect my credit much

Hello! Obviously being I am here we have debt. I recently received a letter from one of my credit cards willing to settle for $6,000 on a $21,000 debt. I would love to settle for that but unfortunately we do not have that much at this time. The letter said to pay that amount in 10 days. Like I said I would love to be able to settle this. Should I get a loan so that I can? What would you advise? Thanks.
