They offered me at 55% today at only 36 days late.I told them I could go around 16,500.00 around 30% of my balance.They told me they dont go under 55%.I take it it too early on for 30%.But thats all I can do in 4 payments.They really tried to push the 55% but no way can I do that.Awesome site by the way!Learning alot.

I'm writing to you about some payday loan trouble I am in. I have talked to several attorneys in my area who haven't been of much help to me and I don't know what to do. I need some good advice - PRA has been routinely calling for about a year and a half. Late last year, the calls came multiple times a day. Every time I actually spoke with them I asked for verification of debt. I sent them several certified letters requesting VOD as well. I'm not sure I owe the money - I had an acct with Chevy Chase in 1993, but our identity was stolen in 1996, and most of our accounts were closed at that time. As you can guess, the information provided for verification was useless, and only went back a few years.

My wages are currently garnished to pay for my student loan. I have ~ 6 months left and the garnishment will be paid in full. I may be taking a job in the UK. The job is with my current employer, just a different division (so different payroll system, etc). My question is, will a garnishment still be applicable if I am living overseas and paid by the overseas division? Can I stop the garnishment and just make payments for the last 6 months? I can't rehab my loan as it takes 9 months to do that, and it will be paid off before that.

I'm considering debt consolidation as a possible route to escape my debt burden but not sure how to pick the right consolidation firm. I have heard that they can rip you off while doing nothing about your debt. Is it true? How did you pick the consolidation company for yourself? Any advice would be helpful.
