I have some insane private student debt, like six-figures big. It's a giant source of embarrassment for me. I realize this was my doing, and I accept that I'm going to be paying them back for a long time to come. As of now I'm current with my payments on all the loans, though the monthly payments are in a temporary partial payment setup.

Is there any advantage or disadvantage with closing a CC account prior to requesting a settlement? Account will be closed anyway after I reach a settlement with OC. Was wondering if this would have any significance with my settlement offerings if I requested the account to be closed first?

Are JellyRoll, CMG,Easycash Online, Loan point, Star Cash, Cashnet, CAshCentral (all of these were on the internet) legal in Texas? They are charging some ridicules repayment amounts for example: Easy-$460.00 for a $300.00 loan JellyRoll -$570.00 for a $300.00 loan I had to close my account because I could not handle the NSF fees...so what can I do??? I tried to email each and set up payment arrangements and Cash Central, Cashnet, StarCash and JellyRoll all responded. I want to do the right thing and pay the debt back but I can't pay each one back $100.00 to $150.00 each.

These guys are a bunch of ass clowns. First they called me on Tues and told me my outstanding payday loans (Both of them are illegal in California by the way) are a class C felony. Then he says he sent notice to my house on 1/25. That was last week. I tried to call them back and get an address where I can send a debt validation letter and the I kept getting hung up on and answering machines with no calls back. Then when I did get a live person the guy didnt even know what a debt validation letter was. LOL I asked how he could be in the debt collection business and not know.

Close to settling the last of 5 credit cards, so I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... The one remaining is a BOA personal line of credit with a balance of 12k. I just missed my fifth payment, and they made their first settlement offer of 45%. I am hoping to get them down to the 35% mark (which seems like the floor) but as I am getting close to the write-off date I don't want to take the chance of it ending up with a debt collector to save $1,200. So, what do people think?

Please give me some advice on how I can end my wage garnishment. I'm a single mom of 2 and cannot afford the $566 per month they are taking out my check. It's been since July 2008. If you are on disability and they end trying to garnish can they do it if you are on disability. I'm not getting any other income and this is not much. This what caused the whole probelm the crap that happen with the credit card companies. Alway had good credit then got raked over the coals could not make payment anymore with all the raiseing of rates and payments ect. Already spent my savings trying to keep up.

I received a strange phone call from Wade Drexler Associates (770-250-5189). The lady said the office is in Atlanta, GA. I am from Indiana. I am not able to verify this business on BBB (can anyone help me with that) The lady said they are a mediation office and my account is pending ligation. They will forward the warrant to my county today if I do not call them back. It was from the loan taken out online with $10 pay day lender in 2006. I am not able to locate that company info so I can verify this debt.
