I've discovered about three (3) months ago that Payday Max was illegal in the state of Maryland. Since I've closed bank account, they have been calling me frequently at work and home. I am 75 days now any they will only settle for 70%. I have had a very bad experience with them. Days 15-60 I only spoke with people from a foreign country like Philippines or something they would never speak of settling just "Pay Now". Days 60-75 finally someone from the US. But now they are saying 70% and they cannot go lower PERIOD. They became very rude and like a bully attacking me why i was a "Deadbeat" . I remained calm and explained for the 20th time I was furloughed from my job and how I have never been late on any payment and always paid more than the minimum. They didn't care.

I have some bad credit card debts that went to collections about 2 years ago. I really want to be proactive about fixing my credit now, but I don't know if I should settle the debts or just wait for the statute of limitations to pass in another couple of years. Can I really fix my credit score by settling or would it be more advantagous just to start rebuilding it will small accounts and wait for the old debts to fall off? Can I be given a 1099 for the difference of the settlement?

I sent a CMRRR Debt validation letter to Gold Key Credit at the address that was listed on my Equifax report. It was returned to me as "Return to sender, unable to forward". I called Gold Key and they said that address has not been used in over 5 years and could I please send a copy of the envelope into them so they could correct the issue. Isn't this a violation? Can I use this to get them to delete the tradeline? Thanks for your responses.
