We are scheduled to file on Friday. Our creditors have the attorney's name. We are starting to get cold feet about being tied up with the legal system and not have much control. Thinking of trying to settle instead. Had an offer from Chase over a month ago for 30%. Citi had only come down to about 50-60%. If we decided to go back to the settlement route, are there any implications now that they know we have a lawyer and the creditors have possibly contacted the lawyer.

how long have you people been without a real life?

I had a student loan in or around 1994. I made arrangements to repay it with the government by turning over my tax return every year until it was paid off. This has been underway for many years, and has never been an issue. I suddenly got a call from CollectCorp trying to collect the apparent "unsecured" bank portion. (?) There has never been any contact regarding this until now, and they want full payment of the debt plus 15 YEARS OF INTEREST! The government has no clue what this is about.

Do you know if has some credit report from Amex hardship program? (The one year with 0% 6 months and 9.9% the other six months) thanks

has anyone done this yourself...i cannot see to find address,s of the cc card company,s , or phone numbers....as to with the credit agenies....careone debt settlement wants lots of money to do it...like my 22,000 debt , ,they can defer it for 5 yrs..$16600, and $278 a month..if i can do it...i am thinking i would lonly have to pay 11000.

Please advise... Are there reputable ways to get a car if you have less than great credit (say scores around 600). What about buy here pay here...i've read positive reviews of a place near me, and i know some of those places are genuine.

Can disputing old items such as collections really hurt yoru score? I've heard about 'report dates'...what impact does this have?

Is anyone getting calls from a number 111-111-1111 asking for the business owner and then they hang up?
