Jane marries John in the summer of 2009. Jane had no job, lots of debts prior to the marriage. There was a signed agreement that John would not be responsible for Jane's past debts. If a collector sues and wins a judgement, and Jane still is unemployed or works making money below the poverty level, can the collector garnish John's accounts to pay his wife's debts?

A hospital is making arrangements with me to pay a bill. They had sent the bill to a collector. The hospital has been working with me and told me the collector was notified twice, to stop collecting. The Collection agency has reported on my credit report, now. They also call me and leave messages with a very hateful tone of voice. Is the collector in violation of collection laws by attempting to collect and reporting on my credit report after the hospital told them to stop?

1 store front payday loan is paid off. It sucked to have to give them the money but I did and its over and done with. I got a "PAID IN FULL" receipt. I had to ask for it. I have another IPDL that I am owed about $76.00 on, the attorney general has my bank statements, but may settle for "paid in full". This is a total drag but i am getting there.

My husband and I want to settle some of the debts we owe. However, we thought we'd be getting $15,000 from a trust fund account and we're only getting $8,000. Basically, my husbands mother controls his money in the trust fund and she decided instead of giving us $15,000, she'd only give us $8,000. Mostly to punish him because she hates me. But that's neither here nor there.... The problem was we planned on paying out more than we're getting. So I've had to prioritize. What I need help with is how much I should offer for settlement.

I am talking with Reliance INC out of Lake Worth, FL. Has anyone had any experience with them? I am looking at a debt settlement with them, to get rid of about $90,000 in cc debt. I will have a lump sum of $20,000 for my settlements (loan from my dad), and then I will be on a payment plan. They charge 10% of the total debt. They are telling me because I have a lump sum to immediately pay the cards, that they should be able to negotiate a pay-off about .20 on the dollar. I will be making monthly payments into a new checking account that I set up, and they will have no access to my account.

I have two accounts with capital one. One is a health acount used to purchase braces for my daughter. The other is a business account. Both are credit cards. Please advise how to obtain the best settlement offer from them.:(:(

:confused::confused:My account is 180 days past due. I have not had a settlement offer. They have turned it over to collections....Will they give me an offer? Please advise

BOA sent me their first offer. I have three cards with them totalling about 39,000. They offered 38% on the first card, and 35% on the other two cards. I didnt even have to try. I declined thimking I may receive a better offer. I have heard of much lower offers. Please give me some advice,:D:D:D:D

Has anyone heard of Worthington Financial or had any experience with them?
