I have been receiving collection letters from two different collection agencies, both of which list IDT Carmel as the creditor. I have never heard of such a company and cannot find anyone to speak to about the debt. I am receiving letters from a company called Encore and a company called Bay Area Credit Service, LLC. I have called both companies. Bay Area has no record of any account under my name, and can only leave messages for Encore. I do not have any idea who IDT Carmel is, or how to contact them. I need to know who they are, how much I owe, and why.

I have several old medical bills i owe appox 55k all for medical bills. I have good credit other than that i dont know what to do im scared of bankruptcy and dont have the money to even make payments toward these debt help please

Has anything thought of putting location (city and/or state) below the posters name? A lot of other forums do it. It would really help when referring to specific laws and rules.

Ok, my husband is going through the beginning stages of debt settlement, it's been about 40 days since last paying bills. I am his wife, all the bills were in his name. I lease a car, my lease is up and I got preapproved for new lease since I was such a good customer. We just found out his name was on my lease as colessee, we both no idea that he was on the lease until now. Now the problem, my preappproval for the new car is only WITH him as colessee. I know I am the primary on the car, but will this ruin his chances for settlement if he does this with me?? Any advice would be great.

What is the real amount owed on a judgment...what court papers state or what the collection agency claims? Thanks for any help!

I had a doctor bill that I paid but was accidentally sent to collection agency. Collection agency tried to collect bill plus interest and I told them bill was paid in full and offered to send canceled check. No response for months. Suddenly, credit agency reports collection account. I raised hell with doctor's office and CA sent me letter saying acount and balance were "cancelled and returned." Does anyone know what this means and how it affects my credit score? I suspect it could still be a problem. If it is, what remedy should I demand from the former creditor/CA? Thanks

Me and my husband have been consistently trying to get his credit str8. We've been paying on his student loans for the last 7mnths consistently... its gets drafted out of his account automatically...well we've recently found out tht the pymnts r reported late each mnth.... The excuse tht we're given frm the collection agency is tht its not up to them to report to bureau its up to the student loan company tht the loan was originated through...We called them and they said it wont become current until its caught up? I dont know wht the caught up point is I didnt speak to them my husband did.

About 5 years ago, my Citibank credit card was charged off. Rubin and Rothman issued a summons in July of 2005. I answered by requesting a verification of the debt within the alloted time. I heard nothing on this issue (no judgmental was entered) until July 2009 when I received a phone call using my maiden name from a different law firm (631-272-9800). The caller asked me to verify that I had received a letter from them about settling the debt. I stated I had not and she then verified my address. I then gave my current and correct address.

Greetings. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm looking into my options for my loans that myself and my parents took out for college. I'm currently paying off two loans from Sallie Mae. My parents took out a Parent Plus loan and they have been paying that off for the last few years. Unfortunately, my parents feel they do not think they should be obligated to the loan they took out and since they are not getting any benefit from the loan itself, they feel I should take over the remaining balance. I checked with Sallie Mae and they said there weren't any options.
