I was listening to Dave the other day, and have just gotten started trying to clear everything out. Did I understand him that if I settle with a cc and ask that they list it as "paid in full" that they won't issue a 1099? I am working with them right now (and am current on negotiated plans) so I don't even know if they'll settle, but I would like to if possible, my job isn't looking stable. Hi, just looking for some advice on how to start the settlement process. I'm stopping payments as of next month to my creditors, and am wondering how best to hand the time between now and when I'll be in a position to settle. The breakdown of my debts is: Citi: 24,000 Amex: 12,000 BOA: 7,000 I'm going to try to sock away as much money as I can in order to be prepared for settlement, but am wondering if I should call my creditors before they start calling me about the non payment?

I'm 80 k in cc debt . i want to file bk . The cc debt is on 30 credit cards one of my questions is will it cost me more for a lawyer because of this ? The other question is i have two cars that are paid for 1995 worth 1800.00 and 1999 van worth 3500.00 my problem is we have 4 kids under 17 we need the van because we all can't fit into car. will they want to take the van if we file chpt. 7. I took the means test looks like we qualifiy for 7 . Does the amounts on means test that they detuct for food, utilites , car maint. is that all a standard detuction?

If I make a partial payment will that restart my chargeoff date? I am trying to settle with Discover and Chase and am looking to buy sometime.
