applied bank vs. Bank of america?

16 years 11 months ago
i have a free online checking account with BofA for more then a year. I never use it have almost no money on it. I have a debit card for it. I had a 300 credit line with them in 2000 which I closed in 2003 but it is still on my credit files. I need advice on whether to go for BofA secured credit card or Applied bank. thank you very much:)

myfico, how does it really work

16 years 11 months ago
ok, so I get it that only myfico dotcom can give me a real score. BUT: on their home page it read that THIS is what they provide: 2 Free Equifax FICO® scores and credit reports Why Equifax? What about my info form the other two bureaus? and then under PRODUCTS tab and under FICO Standard - I guess this is what I need if I want to buy my score info, it reads: 1 total From the bureau of your choice (Equifax or TransUnion) My issue here is that i don't understand where this score comes from. Experian is not mentioned and my old credit lines are only listed there.

Do you think that payday loans should be banned across all states?

16 years 11 months ago
Payday loans - the high interest loans that help meet our unforeseen expenses, often push us into the vicious circle of debt. Most of these payday loan companies operate illegally and harass debtors with threatening calls, in case the debtor fails to pay back the money. Moreover, pdl companies also ask for payment of high interest and finance charges. We invite you to share your opinion on whether payday loans should be banned across all states. If your opinion is voted as the best by our members, you can win $50.

Drowning

Hi, I am in need of help. I have fallen into the dreaded online payday loan trap. In the last year, I have paid over $40,000.00, yes that's correct. Now that it has gotten out of control, I have paid approximtely $600.00 in overdraft and courtesy pay fees by my bank. The sad part is that I have borrowed somewhere in the neighborhood of $26,000.00 during that period of time. Given, some of the payments were applied to loans obtained prior to the data that I pulled. I currently owe somewhere in the neighborhood of $5,000.00-$6,000.00.

collection calls

16 years 11 months ago
What is the law on when a collection company can call? My b-friend has sent in a payment for closure of an account over a month ago with Conn's, Beaumont, TX. It was a certified check sent from the bank to them. They have been calling him many times a day-at home, at work, etc. Cursing him out saying that they are going to put this on this credit report. I would classify their phone calls as harrassment. He has even gotten the bank and one of their own store managers to work with him to get them to understand that the certified check was sent by the bank.

Mann Bracken

16 years 11 months ago
I need advise...i received a summons to appear in court in about three weeks naming Mann Bracken as the Plaintiff. This is related to a debt in the amount of $13k which I originally had with Household Finance in Minnesota in 2005. I guess Mann Bracken bought the debt from Household? About two weeks after I received the summons, I received a letter from Mann Bracken asking if I was interested in a settlement in lieu of any further litigation. I have not contacted them yet.

need serious help

I recently entered the realm of payday loans and have found myself buried! I'm stressed and scared and don't really know what to do. I live in Texas and have taken out 5 or 6 payday loans and I just can't pay the extension fees any more. I am not in default yet, but as of Friday the 5th I will be. I closed my bank account and I'm afraid that it is the wrong thing to do. The lenders I can remember off the top of my head are--- CashNetUSA---400.00--pd. approx. 600.00--owe 250.96 Soloman Financial--300--pd. approx. 240.00---owe 420.00 Pay1Day---300.00---paid approx.
