I just went and filed for and was granted an absolute divorce. While looking for my file the clerk said I had a judgement in my name from Discovercard for over $10k and was accruing interest. I was never served with the paperwork to ever come to court. I think my exwife may have been served but neer told me as it was her inital debt.

I REALLY need to file for bankruptcy! I have no money to file and my family will not help me. I do not know where to turn, I am getting my wages garnished everytime I turn around!!! I have been to see a lawyer for a free consultation and he agrees that bankruptcy is the way to go for me. I can not afford the bankruptcy but I can not afford to keep on like I am. Does anyone have any advice, PLEASE!!!!!

I have just discovered that credit cards have been opened in my name. I have reported these as fraud accounts to the credit bureaus and now the creditors. However, just a few days after I reported an account as fraud to a creditor, the credit card company sent me a billing statement. Can they do this?

I disputed an account with diversified and sent them a letter. they sent me back a front copy of a bill from sprint which I never had. The address is correct but I didnt have sprint service. now in the verification letter i asked them to show that they are licensed to collect.. it ddoesnt show that. all it shows is the page like the front page of a cell phone bill.. nothing itemized.. does this constitute as "proof"??

I got a call last night at home and at work from JC Mack from Lighthouse recovery. I called back today and spoke to Bob Barry. I was told that I owe over $1000 on a PDL that they purchased from the original creditor, Cash first. The principal was $480. I live in the state of NY, and to my knowledge, PDL's are illegal in NY. The guy I spoke to, Bob, said that he knows full well the laws on NYS and that regardless, I would go into arbitration and have to pay the full amount. Is this correct? How can I go about stopping this?

Okay I have recovered from a brutal amount of $48k debt and have it down to about $3.0k. Each month I have about $600 to $700 extra now to make large payments. Here are my remaining debts: Credit Card 1: $1500 Credit Card 2: $1400 I currently have about $700 extra per month right now. But my main question is this: If you have two accounts with roughly the same amount and their interest is the same, and you can make nice chunks of payments do you split them up or do you bombard one of them relentlessly while paying the minimum on the other? What is the best way to consolidate payday loans? If I close my account I do not want them calling my workplace. Will "do not call letters" work for payday loan lenders?
