hi, due to family problems, I have to return to my original country to take care of my parents. problem is I have a huge credit card debt (>$50k) and no way to pay, specially as I have to quit my job to go back. reading a lot about debt consolidation, bankruptcy, etc.. what would be the best solution for me? btw, I'm a citizen and plan to come back after a few years. thanks, -Digo

hey- quick question for y'all. I'm dealing with paydaymax, an outright illegal payday loan company overseas. I'm trying to get out of a hole with this company- i've paid well over the principal on what i was lent (like 1200 dollars over) and still have 900 outstanding. I've sent them a letter revoking ACH privileges but I doubt they'll respect this. I know they got it (at least over fax) as they've suddenly blocked access to my account. my question is- given this company is illegal and cannot legally lend to me, any contract i've entered is null and void.

I have learned a lot from this site, I have a decent Fico of 730 ,and i only have 1 negative account listed by [URL="http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/collection-agencies/afni.html"]AFNI[/URL] for an Alltell account, I sent them a DV letter, they sent me a statement , and i call them ,and i knew i have never had an alltell account , the SS# they have wasnt even mine. My question if they have the wrong ss# and i know this is not my account, how can TU be reporting it on my credit report.

Hello to everyone: I just wanted to let any Wisconsin residents know that the state of WI has a program called "Chapter 128" which is not bankruptcy, but which allows you to repay unsecured debts interest free. The plans are staright forward and very effective when dealing with high interest payday lenders. To qualify you must have some regular source of income and be able to repay the balance over 36 months. You can include payday loans, medical bills, utility bills and credit cards.

What happens when a person who filed bankruptcy (in the State of Florida) dies ? (and the bankruptcy case has not yet been heard)

Shortly after my husband died, I was contacted about a 20-year-old student loan in fed default. It is my loan, but I thought it had been paid off 15 years ago. That's what my husband told me (before he died, of course). I made a telephone settlement arrangement with Van-Ru. I agreed to 10 monthly auto-withdrawals from my account of $250, after which time the loan would be out of default and the payments would go down to $50 per mo. Once out of default, I would have the opportunity to research and file a dispute.

Currently we are living in NY. The other day I received a call from a company (which comes up as Source RM on caller ID) with an automated thing asking for someone by my maiden name--so I hit the number saying I was the person they were looking for. But then I was taken to a collection agency (first time in my life--my husband has been taken to collection before and I've been the one to settle his accounts for him). I was told that Excel Telecommunications (never heard of them, mind you) sent me to collections after having written off my account in 2002.
