I was just recently served court papers to respond to this debt that is several years old. I was paying on the account until a year ago. I was unable to pay anymore due to circumstances. It got sold to where ever until now I received this notice to respond to Borack and Associates within 20 days. Anyone out there know what to do on this? Should I request Verification of the debt or what.. Please anyone know what to do....

Hello, I finally completed the 3 year conditional disability discharge waiting period for my federal student loan last month. If any of you have gone through the disability discharge process what can I expect? How long until my loan is finally discharged or forgiven and they send me the final discharge letter? Thank You! I used one of the formats that were on this web-site (which I'd like to say thank you for those that have posted them!) and tailored it to my information. I had in there that the PDL lender had 5 days to repsond to me and it has been 6 and I still have not heard anything. I checked my online account and there is still the balance showing. What do I do next? The lender is 500fastcash.

I had to open my big mouth! I think I posted something here last week about the fact it had been a long time since I had received any collection calls. Well, I guess I jinxed myself! I got a crazy VM from "The Law Office" this morning at 9:30 AM on my home phone and cell phone. Besides all the cliche'd CA foolishness and the multiple FDCPA violations, the caller mentioned something about a "pending legal matter in Los Angeles county." I do not now, nor have ever lived in Los Angeles County. Last I checked, there is not now, nor has the ever been, a Los Angeles county in Florida.

A friend of over 10 years is in BK7. I have helped him (not to be show-off or anything) very much and even paid is debts over $20K. Three years ago he sold his place and paid me back. And $17K he decided to split it with me, (and we spent it together)to let me know his appreciation. Two years after that, (he is very private person) I found out that he was in economical trouble again... to make long story short, I called all his CC and canceled them all, again...

I have about 10 Hospital bills listed on my Credit Report they rage from 25.00 to 200.00 from an emergency room visit. I had insurance and never received a bill. The company's that are trying to collect are collection agency's. Does any one have a good letter to validate the amount, a letter that has the hippa info in it please help SOL is not out yet i think. I get the report from Transunion where would I look for this info? Thanks

Sorry in advance...if you don't want to read a bit of a rant, please don't read further! Since my youngest is moving to his dad's house in another state this summer, and I'm the one carrying insurance on the kids, I decided to take a day off from work and get his eye & dental appointments done. Since it's my insurance, might as well have my doctors do it, right? Well, we moved about a year ago, and our dentist is now 35 miles away, so we decided to change to a new one that was closer.

Do credit card companies refuse to settle unless all of a person's credit accounts are in default. I have some rather small cards that are still affordable that I am paying on currently. Will paying on these credit accounts affect settlement chances with the others?
