Last May I had a bank acct frozen and about $700.00 held by my bank. I think it's called a Garnishment - Restraining Notice. I spoke with the bank when it happened and they said that the party that put the hold on my acct would have to have it lifted. My question is since my BK was filed 9 days ago, how long will it be until the party that did this to my bank acct lift it?

Hello I have unpaid timeshare, which was passed to a collection agency in the us. The time share is in Mexico, Collection Agency in US and I am canadian citizen, leaving in Canada. What are the chances that the collection agency will be able to collect the money from me. What does the law say about it? What is the general practice? Can they contact my employer, bank or canada reveue agency for purpose of collecting the money owed. Also can they ruin my credit record (in Canada). Thank you for your help.

Well, I think I am. I just read that the CEO of GM has been asked to step down immediately at the request of the White House! The American auto industry has been in deep doo doo for one heck of a long time. I'll tell ya what, it's pretty bad when foreign auto makers are out selling the auto's in the U.S. For crap sakes, who can blame anyone for purchasing vehicles that are less expensive, have better warranties and gets WAY better gas mileage than the American made automobiles. It's 'bout time the U.S started forcing the U.S.

I have 3 cc debts to clean up. All are in collection 1. HSBC now Redline 980 2. First Premier 800 3. Credit 1 /First Marin 560 I have sent First Premier an offer for 264 HSBC and credit One are in Validation When dealing with such relatively small amounts (for the companies --not for me) what is usual/possible? Are they more or less motivated to settle on a smaller amount given the size of the debt? Does my pursuing it make their going to a suit more or less likely? 4sety

I received a summons on the door at a prior address of mine from a collection agency called Worldwide Asset Purchasing. The summons is a request for judicial intervention to confirm an arbitration award, and requests a relief judgement. If someone could help, what steps are necessary to respond to this type of situation? Some background information. The debt involved should be outside the SOL.

bankruptcy court after March 15 2009 requires expenses to come from a table made by the internal revenue and census. not your actual expenses. it might have been the same in the past don't know. However---- on Chapter 7 expense schedule it does NOT say to use this table. On form 22A and 22C it does require using the table. After doing lots of research, reading, and meeting with/and talking to financial advisors and etc., I have come to the tough decision to file Ch. 7 in California. I have already chosen a law firm and had my first consultation. My next step is to make a second appointment, pay the retaining fee to legally retain the attornies to handle my bankruptcy, and am supposed to list all my unsecured debt and the creditors they are with and their contact information.

I am starting to get notices from collections agencies on the payday loans, now what? Is it too late?

Was watching The Today's Show....this was a bit 'shocking'. Really made me frown!! One of the members, on The Todays Show went out, with a hidden camera nad was 'hired' at different CA's. She went into an office, sat down, and a 'Manager' interviewed' her. Anyway...after the day ended, she went to a 'get together' with all of her 'Co-workers.' She then asked the 'Co-workers'.."you know it's illegal to threatened someone and use illegal tactics of the sort", etc. Basically, the response was 'they din't care.
