Hey there's going to be what looks to be a good piece tonight on DATELINE on NBC about bad debt collectors....Just thought I share. Reny

I don't know who they are. They keep calling saying I have been granted a 24 hour extension, and they rattle off this case number, and reference the last 4 numbers of my social security number. They have even left this information with my mother and mother in law, referencing my social. I have asked for all the documentation in writing, but they will not send me anything, and they will not give me the name of their company. So far, every name they have given me, I cannot find through the better business bureau, or any other listing I can find. Do you have any suggestions?

I received a call yesterday saying that I took out an online payday loan and haven't paid the loan of 425.00 to cash advance usa. I informed the gentleman that that is incorrect because I don't owe any payday loans. I was disturbed because he had my social security number, name, address. What to do if they have file to collect against me in small claims court, but the SOL has expired for the State of California

About a year ago, I had my credit card charged off due to non-payment. The amount chrged off was somewhere around $6,000. I couldn't even make the minimum payment because not only did I lose my job, but when I did eventually find work it was only part time at near minimum wage working at a bookstore. My check for two weeks of work was BARELY enough to cover one car payment, and as a result I fell behind on all my bills. During those 10 months, my credit card debt was sent to a law firm for collections, the law firm of Bronson and Migliaccio. They offered to settle with me for $2900.

Does anyone know if once I file my bankruptcy, will that take care of judgments from credit cards?
