I am 147 days overdue with Advanta for a balance now of $14,450 and they are willing to offer 40% on whole balance to be paid in one lump sum this week. Do you think that I can do better? chaka

I received a call from a rude male named Jim Alston at my job stating that I owe for a book that I refused when I was closing out my P.O. Box. He demanded that I pay to them, TAKHAR Collections via my checking account. THe phone number that appeared on the caller ID at work 646-367-3289 When I stated to him that first he had no right calling me a work demanding anything especially a payment (like I was going to pay him to get him of the phone). :twisted: I am reporting this matter to the Attorney General and the BBB.

I got a computer generated letter from these people stating that I owe them money. I immediately sent a VALIDATION request letter. I got back verification from them, NOT what I asked for. They claim this debt is from The Associates open on 5/29/1997 and bought by PRA on 6/2/06. This is the first I have heard from them and they are charging me interest? What should I do now that they didnt give me VALIDATION that I asked for??

I have moved to california but stopped paying when I lived in Michigan. Which state would it be authroized to? Thanks!

My situation: In Arizona Unemployed/Lost job Sept 2008 (only receiving Unemployment now but former job was making me $75k/year) Have over $110k in credit card debt (across like 8 cards) My current mortgage loan and monthly payment: $260k / $1.8k Have HELOC balance of $100k against my house Have 2 cars with no loans on them (actually, transferred the car loans to HELOC 2 years ago) I'm current on "all" loans right now... only because I was using my leftover cash for last year..

I'll follow up on this with Discover tomorrow morning and this will shade some more light on it for sure, but I have a feeling that OC and/or CA are trying to screw me up. Here is what happened I reached settlement agreement with CA working on behalf of Discover to pay 25% as settlement, here is wording of the settlement: "On behalf of our client Discover Financial Services, [name of CA] is willing to accept less than the full balance due as settlement on the above mentioned account. The settlement offer shall be $ due in our office no latter than [date].....

I was told by my lawyer that it is hard to take a payday loan that is in another county on bankruptcy. Anyone have any ideas? I am wondering if I choose another lawyer.

So I decided to go with Progressive Debt Relief for my 5 PDL's, 3 of which are storefront. I have been told by each storefront that they do not work with consolidators. The lady at Progressive told me that they always say that, but that they can and will work with them. Two of my storefronts are CFSA members. Advance America and Express Check Advance. AA was actually pretty nice, saying they couldn't work with a consolidator but would let me pay off $100 a week. The lady at Progressive said they have worked with AA before and could get me a better settlement.
