I am working to repay all of my internet PDL's - I have 12 and it amounts to over 4000.00 in debt. Obviously I can only pay so much at a time. My fear is that I will get sued and have my wages garnished. Has anyone had this happen?

I've settled my Chase and Advanta Cards at 35% after only three - four months on non-payment. My american express went to Zwicker and associates - I have been negotiating with them - but can't get them past 55% and now they tell me they are filing suit - last missed payment was Nov 08 - and it's march 09. Are they lying to me? I know it's illegal - but what does everything think? Also has anyone settled for less than 55% with them - I hate to pay them that much when everyone else got 35% and were actually not bad to work with.

I have an important question. My step-dad pays alimony to his ex-wife and now he needs to file BK due to financial problems... What will happend now? He will have to pay alimony each month like he did it in the past years or not? I appreciate a quick response

I was sued by North Star and served papers. I answered the suit with the court the way you guys here said to. I received a letter from their attys last week showing that they asked the court for a continuance so they could get the papers from the oc that I asked for. I called the court today, since I have not heard if the date had been changed to 60 days later as they asked. Clerk told me it is still set for this Thursday. I think the atty for North Star may have been trying to have me not show up by making me think it was put off for 60 days.

Hi, I received a collection notice from RJM Acquisitions. It was saying that I owe WAMU about $200. I didn't owe anyone money. So I contact them and I found out that account is a joint account, and the other person was my EX. So I guess I might have signed up an account with him, but just never used it. So I told RJM Acquisitions, I would pay for it, if they remove it from my credit report. They agreed they will. So my question is, what can I do to be 100% sure that they are going to remove it after I pay them? Thank you for help!

I recently received a summons from Daniels Law Office about a debt they were allegedly trying to collect on behalf of MBNA (now owned by Bank of America). I defaulted on a credit card in February, 2003, but I believe I re-aged it by making payments to Wolpoff and Abrams, another collection agency. I paid off most of the principal, but they had tacked on a couple of thousand dollars worth of fees and interest, and I missed a couple of payments. In June, 2008 Wolpoff and Abrams sent me a letter saying that they were willing to take a greatly reduced payoff amount to settle the debt.

I am so glad I found this site. I stumbled accross this site about 2 months ago and life is sooo much better. At the time I had 4 PDLs. I discovered from reading on here every one of them was unlicenced in my state. I followed the instuctions that are posted on this site for dealing with illegal PDLs. When I was finally ready to send out those certified letters I was so very scared. And sure 'nuf those illegal PDL's called me. They called my work. All I would ever say to them is "i need this in writing" and I would hang up.

I found out today that a judgment was awarded through arbitration. I was never notified of arbitration date there for I didn't go. I filed my answer on time in December and haven't heard anything since. What motion do I need to file to have this overturned? Thanks

I had a judgment agains a vehicle that was repossesed. I later filed bancruptcy, and that judgement was placed on bancruptcy. This was five years ago. In August, I acquired an acre of land to put a home on, and a lien showed up on the acre from the bank judgement. They refuse to release it. Is this legal, and if so how can I get it off? By law, I am not required to pay the bank because they were on the bancruptcy, correct. I am now unable to get my home even though I was approved for the home because there is a lien on my land. Any ideas of how I can fix this?
