I am confused about debt settlement, if you are paying a company to settle the debts, why do people get sued from the debtor? And what can you do about it? How can you ensure the debtors are really being paid from the settlement company?

If I owe about 65K in credit cards and 47K in a unsecured loan "line of credit..would I be able to pay $150.00 per month or so..at least for a/till job picks up..12mo or so then raise monthly payment? Thanks

I got a call from 1-866-964-8194, I don't normally answer calls from unknown numbers so I didn't pick it up. The lady left a message saying that she was calling from the Office of Julie Rice and that there was an urgent matter in her office that I or my written attorney needed to call her back immediately and that if I couldn't call that my attorney should. The number is 1-866-964-8194 dept 712.

does anyone know any what is going on with them. i am a month behind and only get 1-3 calls a day and they leave no message. the reason i am asking is because i have read other posts and read about alot of harrasment. maybe it is because i only have 2 payments left (i finally hit bottom) i am sure i just jinxed myself.

I kept getting notices from North Shore Agency concerning one of those "free magazine " offers that came after a gift subscription for my son. He was age 15 at the time.

I see we have a new member who has been very active early this morning. This person is obviously very knowledgeable and I believe would be a good debt samaritan. The only thing that I did not agree with was the advice given to someone to close a credit card with a high APR before paying it off. That can knock your FICO down real fast. I was a little surprised by that response taking into consideration all the other ones that were right on in my opinion anyway. What do y'all think?

I have been paying my students loans through the garnishment of my wages for over a year now and this year they took my income tax check. How would I go about trying to dispute the matter and getting my check?

hello friends, in 1997 I owed about 3000$ to a university. It was in collection and eventually it fell off the report. The law firm who was then trying to collect has recently looked up my credit report. Is there any chance an old debt can be revived? I am not even sure it was ever reported as I just in November checked my credit report of the first time and back in 1997 I did not even have a social security number.Is there anything I can do?check? thank you all:) immigrant,a bit scared

Hello: I currently reside in NYS and was contacted yesterday by someone from JD Enterprises about an ATT cell phone bill I accrued in 2001. He told me that unless I settled it right there on the phone, I would be taken to court and a judgement would be made against me. I was residing in Massachusetts at the time I had the cell phone. I am disabled and receive disability every month. I am also a single mother (whose estranged husband, incidently, ran up all my credit cards and placed me in this position). I receive no child support, just disability.
