What more can I do?

17 years 2 months ago
I've brought my student loans current, and I've paid off my credit card and the negative items (late payments) have dropped off after 7 years. Now though there are 5 collection accounts listed. 3 of these I have settled, 2 are currently being paid down. These are all 3 years old or so. I feel like there's nothing more I can do. At the same time I'd like to get on with my life...Ie get a car loan and a good apartment. What can I do ...has anyone been in similar situations?

Can I take Legal Action?

17 years 2 months ago
Hello Everyone, Just wanted to see if anyone can advise me on how to handle this issue: I was contacted yesterday by a so called law firm/collection agency Nelson Hircsh & Associates. I was told that I owe a debt from 2005 to nofaxpaydayloan.com. The message that the woman left on my voicemail was and I quote" she is in the fraud division and there is a check fraud claim against me". ( lies) I am upset because I know I am an honest person but when she said fraud I was mad and very upset.

Arrow Financial/Won't send letter, put inquiry on credit/Please Help

17 years 2 months ago
There is this company Arrow financial that some of you may have heard about. here's the story. I took out a loan from a private school a few years back for roughly 10K. The school sold the loan to equient who in turn sold it to Arrow as I was having trouble making payments. The same woman would call me frequently from Arrow and then all of the sudden just stopped in October of 08. She would only take payments over the phone or offer an address to send them in but WOULD NOT SEND ME A STATEMENT After a while I found this type of activity fishy and stopped doing payments over the phone.

Going through divorce need advice about Bankruptcy 7 or 13

17 years 2 months ago
I really need some advice from the experts on this board. I have about $70,000 in credit card debt which is in my name and I am still married although about to get divorced. Can I file bankruptcy and whichone is better chapter 7 or 13. I do own my house jointly with my husband and am leasing a car so what happens is the slate wiped clean and does it appear on my credit report for several years. If I am still married can I file on my own and it wont impact my husbands credit. What happens with any refunds from IRS in future years.

I'm pleased to announce that bea2ls has passed the 1000 post mark and is now eligible to enter the Hall of Fame. bea2ls joined the DebtCC family almost a year ago because of being trapped in the Pay Day loan cycle. Once their own problems were under control, they have spent many hours helping out other members who were caught up in the never ending PDL cycle. Thanks for all your time and effort helping out the community! 10 votes is all we need!

Settling CC Debt while in school

17 years 2 months ago
I have debt on 3 CC cards, and I have to stay current until I receive student loans around August. They don't check credit score for federal loans, but your credit cannot be 'adverse' (90 days delinquent in the past 5 years). I was wondering if it would be advisable to settle the cc debt while I am in my first year of school (before my second year when I would be required to apply for loans again). Thanks! Steven

Settle or BK?

17 years 2 months ago
Hi Everyone, I would really like to settle my accounts. I have about 27,000 in CC debt and part of that is a personal loan with HFC. Problem is, whenever I speak with my creditors about settlement they want the entire amount up front. This seems silly to me because if I had that kind of money, I would be paying my bills and defaulting. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can settle with payments? How I should approach this subject with my creditors etc. If I can't do it with payments, I'll be forced to file CH 7 BK. Any help is appreciated.
