Is there a list of what collection agencies are allowed to collect in each state?

I sent out CA validation letters and just received my first one back, but all they put in the letter is: Acct#.... and its proceeds were sold, assigned and transferred by the seller to us on (Date). At the time of the sale, the seller provided an electronic file of its business records concerning this account.

I just got two 1099 - c forms one for my deceased husband and one for me for a cancellation of debt. I am concerned about what if anything I will have to pay to IRS since I am on a fixed income 700.00 a month. How do I handle this?? I have no money to pay the creditor so how can I pay IRS with this interest they want to tack on to me?? I am on disability. Were do I go from her? Is there anyway I can get someone to help me free on this matter Iam confussed on this insolvent total liabilities must be greater then total assets. Can someone please help me ?? thanks

Is anyone familiar with their willingness to settle? Right now I have 8200 with them, at about 8% interest. I would like to settle, however, I dont want to end up losing the lower interest rate by letting it become delinquent to try and settle, and have them not be willing to do a settlement.

is there any debt consolidation for small secured loans, like finance companies?

My debts are over a year old now. All have been charged off. Who Do I pay the CA OR OC? I don't know who to trust. If I can still pay the OC how can they pull the debt from the CA and how do I know that the CA won't go ahead and bill me anyway? If I settle with the CA how do I know he won't turn around and sell off the remainder of the debt to another JDB? I won't to begin the process but I'm not sure which direction to go. Any help. I am helping my neighbor out with National Action Financial Services. Before he had a different company, N/R/A trying to collect on an old debt from him. The debt is at least 10 years old since hr made a payment and the SOL in our state is 6 years. N/R/A had it on his credit report and Trans-Union deleted it but Experian verified it and Equifax we are waiting for an answer. I called N/R/A and they had no information so I bitched them out for verifying an account with the credit reports when they have nothing in the office.

i was recently contacted via phone from a representative of assets acceptance agency stating that I owed them money from a credit card that I am not sure if it is mine. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
