I will have a meeting with Chase next week to discusse closing my checking account due to these pdl ach's. On the phone they told me they can close my account and enforce a "do not reopen". I am hoping that will prevent any of these pdl's from getting more funds, does that sound right? They also, told me I can open a new account right away. I truly hope this works. Anyway, doing something is better than nothing at all, which is what I've been doing.

I have seen quite a few posts suggesting that settlements are best at about 150 to 180 days. My question is what is that exactly? Is it 180 (or 150) days after the first missed payment due date or is it 180 days after you are delinquent......someone once told me that the account is not considered "delinquent" until 31 days after the first missed payment. Hope this question makes sense.

When I come home from work everyday, I look at my caller ID and I see that HSI Financial (collection agency for northside hospital) has called 4 times. One day I decided to answer and guess what was on the other end? A RECORDING!!! Why would a collection agency have a recording try to call us instead of a human being? When I answered the phone, they said "please call HSI" (blah, blah, blah). I said to myself, I'm not about to call a collection agency back because a human being was too lazy to pick up the phone and call us themselves.

Is it possible for a debt collector to actually garnish or go after your unemployment benefits for any old debts? Just saw someone else's answer to someone else and made me think.........can they REALLY do this or just threaten to do it?

Dear everyone I got 2 summons yesterday on 2 of my accounts. I have been with a debt settlement program since July last year. I have only saved 1700 since the first 3 months were service fees. Now, I don't want to go to count. I suggest that I give my settlement company 5000 more so that they can probably settle something with the lay firm. The 2 accounts total to $16000. Do you guys think I can still settle it with the lay firm if I just put more money into my settlement account?

HI, I keep getting calls come up on my caller id that show "private number" or "private caller". Today I ended up picking up the phone and it was some woman stating she was from CRA.

I am her daughter and my Mother received papers today to appear in court in Carwford County. My Mother is unable to appear in court, she is ill. She is unaware of who this could be. We have no other way to contact anyone, please call us at phone number removed..PM She will be more than glad to take care of this matter. I've been sued by Discover Card and the lawyers want me to pay $400 a month which I can't afford. The lawyers have asked me for proof of Hardship. Copies of all my bills and pay stubs, including a letter stating what I can afford to pay monthly. Should I send them copies of my bills and pay stubs? I'm afraid they may use this to garnish wages or put a lien on my house. What should I do?

Two days ago some man arrived at my home with an OPEN envelop, did I mention it was after 9pm, I also did not have to sign for it!! Anyway I looked inside the envelop to find it stated a SUMMONS. When I read through the whole thing, I started pulling up documents to give them an answer, when I got to the portion that required the Case number, I looked at the Summons to find there was not case number. I contacted our county court house and they told me there is nothing in the system for me, they have no idea what that summons is or why I received it. Can someone tell me what this could be?
