Capital Management Collection Notice, LVNV creditor...? After recently receiving a collections notice from Capt Mgmt for a debt claim from a closed Discover card acct from 2000, I checked my credit report. The report shows no sign of outstanding debt or delinquency. Do I need to respond to this claim? Will they stop contacting me at some point?

Hello, First post here. At the beginning of my weekend it seems a creditor garnished my bank account for nearly $4000. I only had $70 in the account so it went negative. I have an idea who it is but received no notice about this at all. I was making monthly payments to a Capital One lawyers office and the $200 a month was overwhelming so i was behind one month. It's now Sunday and I can't do anything until Monday. I will cancel my direct deposit first thing in the morning then try to contact the creditor. I have no money for food or gasoline until this is resolved.

Just wanted to let you guys know I defaulted on a loan for around 1100 at the cash store.I just got a letter in the mail from a collection agency,so it looks like the cash store doesn't take legal action if you default,or at least in my case.

In speaking to a debt settlement company last week, they stated that the amount a credit card company will settle for varies by state. As I am a California resident, supposedly I will get a different result than a resident of a different state. Any truth to this?

...and THE OPERATOR wanted to know if I would accept a collect call ! And I am supposed to be dumb enough to beleive it's from the "DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS" I will not post here in the fourm what I told them to kiss. ANYBODY ELSE GET A CALL FROM THE "DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS" ?? Phising scheme no doubt !

I have defaulted on my [Direct] loan, BIG MISTAKE. I have been very irresponsible, and I wish to correct that. I haven't filed for my taxes yet, until I can talk to the credit agency who holds my loan, because I am not working right now & if they are going to take my refund, it's going to impose a serious hardship. Good morning all, I've got questions regarding credit reports. Got around to checking mine out finally! Experian shows several accounts having dropped in Sept/Oct 2008 TransUnion is showing the exact SAME accounts to drop Jan 2009. Equifax wouldn't even let me access my report. Have not tried again as yet. All accounts in question were to have been dropped/removed officially as of 2008. What I'm wondering, is why is TransUnion showing an incorrect drop off date? And is there something I can do, to get said accounts removed and report correctly updated? Information appreciated. Thanks.

Hi folks...I can't log onto to Bud's site ! I get the message on my screen 'SERVICE UNAVAILABLE" Any word on this ?

First of all thanks for being here as a resource. My problem is that I defaulted on my student loans and am now having my wages garnished. I also recieved a letter a while back that mentioned getting a tax off-set. I do not have a letter from the CA telling me that my wages were going to be garnished. Though I threw much mail from them away, so this is not a claim that they did not send it. I have not had the chance to call the CA yet as it is a weekend, but I did call my payroll and they specified that the garnishment was going to be removed until a debt of $14k was paid.
