Hi, I live in CA. Can I be served via FedEx? I am not expecting a package and FedEx left me a door hanger today stating that they have a delivery but someone over 21 has to sign for it. Suspicious.

My Amex just went to Nationwide and I want to settle but not sure of timing. I'm about 120 days late and know the debt is valid but should I send a validation request just to buy a little more time? Should I call them to settle?

My bank account is closed, and the bank assured me that no debits can come through at all. I wrote emails to the companies explaining how I wanted to pay them, (by money order)and I used one of the official letters here telling the lenders that I was revoking authorization for them to deduct from my account. The Loan Shop Online sent me a nice email saying my payment offered to them was fine, and they gave me a mailing address.

Funny thing I called HSBC yesterday to find out if my account was charged off. Yes it was and had been sent to Resurgent Capital. So I call the to inquire about the account# and balance. The girl I spoke with said "you might be contacted by one of our outside agents", I said, "WHAT?" she said, "We are a collection agency and sometimes other collection agencies help us out..." I heard her say something about LVN (spelling?), which I've heard you guys talk about here on the board.

To make a long story short, I had a checking account that I closed but the bank failed to close it properly and charged 3 months of overdraft fees even when I didn't have that protection. I found out a year later they didn't close it right and I owed them money. Well I refused to pay and even had a bank manager say it was their error. That was five years ago plus a few months because I don't remember. They put me on that list where you can't have a checking account but I am now off it (it has been that long).

I have received a bill from this company for a supposed overdrawn bank account. I never had this account and don't know how to go about settling this matter. HELP!

They're calling a lot of times per day. I sent a inschool deferrment request since I've gone back into school but I assume it hasn't reached them yet. How exactlly can I request that they not contact me via my cell phone anymore?

I emailed/faxed/mailed letters to 8 different PDLs and to date only 2 responses. I am starting to get a little nervous. 2 of them have changed my account status from active to collections and one may be PIF. Nothing from the others. Could it be because I have overpaid them? Just need a little encouragement. And on an unrelated note, I still can't log in. :-(

and I am in NJ.. :( I too am totally embarrassed. You would think by now I would have learned. Anyway...I have been visiting this forum for about 2 weeks when the panic sunk in. I had no idea what I had gotten myself into or how I was going to get out. I have read and acknowlede that this forum has great guidance and great information. I have already visited my bank and stopped some of the ACH withdrawals. I am closing the account tomorrow. They have been very helpful.
