I live in Iowa and am struggling with payday loans. I have loans with my cash now Check N Go US Fast Cash I am having trouble making payments, which is putting me behind in other bills. I really do not want to take out another loan and don't have any family I can go to for help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

OK, so, I did a dumb thing and co-signed on a car for an at that time friend. Of course, the friend defaulted on the loan, and I just got a letter in the mail where the civil court issued that we have to repay them back the remaning amount of the loan plus court costs. I want to know, what happens if I don't re-pay this debt? :cry:

I looked on my credit report and found I had a student loan that was charged off about two years ago. When I called up the bank to ask them who they sold it to they said they still owned the bad debt. They never sold it to anyone. I have never heard of this. Why would a company write something off as bad debt and not sell it to a collection company. Does this change anything? Is the statue of limitations still work the same?

Has anyone done a settlement with them?

Getting ready to do debt settlement. Husband passed away from cancer 2 years ago and I have been trying to hold on but no luck at this point. Can't do a BK because I have a security clearance.

Has anyone been successful settling their debt on there own, rather than going through a debt settlement company? If so, can you share any tips. Also, did you originally sign up with a company and then leave to do it yourself?

Hi, I am new to this. I had good credit a year ago, but $60k in credit card debt. Now both my husband and I are unemployed and credit score has dropped to around 615, and am about 2 months behind on most cards (some more, some just one). Well, I've been beat down by the late fees and higher interest to the point where I just CANNOT keep up even if I wanted to, and quite frankly after being treated ok a few months ago, to being viewed as a leper and lowlife now, I really don't care anymore. I feel at this point our best bet is to try and settle.

My husband and I our both 45, two college age children, have about 120,000 in unsecured debt (credit cards). This does not include mortgage, school loans, car loans. I feel sick about it. I have been making minimum monthly payments, I have no more savings. Our income barely covers it all. We both are ashamed of ourselves for letting our lives get so bad. But, as my husband continues to think positive, we have our health, and our children are doing well.

It baffles me how they are calculated. Last year I had 4 loans at 7.42% and 2 loans at 5%. Now that it's 2009, the 4 loans went UP to 7.75% yet 2 loans went DOWN, one went down to 4.25% and another all the way down to 3.25%. How are variable interest rates calculated?
