I have settled all my accounts but an AMEX that is 2100. Nco told me they were working on behalf of AMEX and that the account was not charged off ot purchased by them. I ran my report and finally got someone at AMEX to confirm they charged it off and have sold it to NCO. Long story short NCO wants to settle for 800 and I ask for a letter to send the Divorce Attorney. The letter is not signed and it states they will report to AMEX it is settled? NCO is not on my credit report at all. I just want to settle and have it reported as settled since it is not that long after charge off?

Can anyone out there tell me if they have been successful settling with American Express? If so, can you give some details like what was the balance and how long did it take you to settle?

I did research and found out that a collection agency must be license with the department of consumer affairs in order to collect any debt from a new york city resident.So am i to assume that if they do not have a license they can not try to collect is there anyone here no for sure about this?

I am a Georgia resident I took out a loan in Alabama at a store (the money store) They are now taking me to small claims court DO I have any rights or protection being a resident where pdl's are not legal or because I did make the loan in Alabama an I responsible for all costs and fees? I need to respond or go to court and I need some sound, correct advice on my rights. Thanks.

LVNV Funding got a default judgment against me earlier this year. Long story short, they are not licensed to collect debt in my state, Massachusetts. I tried to get the judgment removed and the judge would not do it. I told him they where not licensed to collect in my state and he said he didn't care. They did register as a foreign corporation in my state but never filed a annual report. I now notice that they have a certificate of withdrawal and are no longer registered as a FLLC. They where registered from 09/2006 to 10/2008, only 2 years, what a joke.

I allowed myself to get into over $50,000 in credit card debt. I new what I was doing was wrong, spending what I don't have. It started after being divorced and not wanting to give up the "life-style". Not that I have a high maintenance personallity, but my husband (ex) was the one who kept the reigns on. He is very responsible with money and he kept me that way. Now I don't have that and I can't seem to control myself. I try for a while, then get overwhelmed and give up. I am behind in payments and have written letters to which they have not responded.

i get a letter from aca recovery saying they represent instant cash they say i owe them $650 .Besides this letter i also recieved a few phone calls from this moron who calls himself lopez.He called me on 3 seperate occasions.The last 2 calls he made he broke the fdcpa law by saying that a warrant for my arrest wil be issued if i dont call him by 5pm and it will go to legal matters the next day meanwhile this was weeks ago and nothing legal from them so far and i dont expect any.I sent them a debt validation letter to them certified mail and i did recieved it back with signature.Also in letter

If collection agency is not license to collect in my state then they can not collect fo whatever debt they say i owe am i corect?Ifso how can i find out what collection agencies are not licensein my state of new york?
