I've been searching this forum for an answer to this for hours now. I apologize if the answer is in another post, I just couldn't find it. I was in a rehabilitation program with CCA for about two months. I ended up contacting direct loans and consolidating my student loans. Payment is on $33 / a month. I'm happy with it - CCA was charging $200 a month. My question is, how long do I have to wait to file my taxes? I have not filed for last year yet and I was being offset. It's only been 5 days since my loan was paid off and I'm about to file taxes.

Does anyone know of a good loan modification attorney?

I have had a Bank Of America credit card account( $5500.00) turned over to this collection agency. It was placed with them at the beginning of November. I sent a DV Letter to them certified mail with a request for a paper receipt. I decided to do this after researching a ton on this site and how to manage and pay off my debts. I live in Ohio and have read that this company is one of the worst to deal with. The first time I actually picked up the phone with them the first words out of their mouth were. We are calling to get your attorney's name or will you be representing yourself?

I have a verizon phone that I would like to sell on ebay for $300.00 can anyone tell me what ebay would be charging me to use them? Haven't sold anything on there for 3 years so I can't remember...thanks for the help.

I'm not sure what to make of this, but I am receiving e-mail spam which may be related somehow with this site... I use yahoo's disposable email addresses, and I setup one a long time ago just for this site. In other words, 'rosyjoe0902-debtcare@yahoo.com' is not really my email address, but yahoo knows to forward any mail sent there to my real email. I have never given the email out or used it to signup for anything other than this site. I am starting to get spam emailed to that address.

Can someone explain to me how they work? I understand that I pay a $100 fee and then an amount based on what I need to pay back - plus their fee for the next 6 months and then $29.95 per month for the last six months. It sounds like a lot less money than I have going out in fees now, but I guess the money just sits in a savings account and at the end of the year they work settlements with the pdls. What do I do in the meantime? What happens in between?

I have collection from firstsource. HSBC told me the loan had not been sold or charged off so why won't hsbc work with me?
