Is Check 'n Go registered as CSO in Texas?

17 years 6 months ago
Can someone please let me know if this is correct? I searched the Texas CSO registration website and I looked up Check 'n Go and Southern Specialty Finance (listed as the CSO on my paperwork) in various ways, and I don't see them. Does this mean that they're not registered in Texas?? Does this mean that they're not operating business legally? Thanks for your help on this.

I was talking to a debt settlement company that sounded real good until I pulled up the Better Business Bureau. Thank god! I found out they had complaints and then I found out they were not BSI certified with TASC. I didn't really think there was any difference between company's but now I know better. My advice is defiantly check with the Better business bureau and see how long a companies been in business and how many complaints they have, you'll be surprised!!! I wish I would have found this forum sooner.

Stop Harrassment, Hire a Lawyer.

17 years 6 months ago
Everyday I am here reading horror tales about collectors threatening, harrassing and breaking every fdcpa and state law in the book. It was refreshing for me to read today that someone hired a lawyer. This forum is full of advice for people to deal with collectors themselves, and even go to court without representation. That is a very risky thing to do and could cost you, the defendant, the amount of the debt plus legal fees and court costs. You can not go up against a professional by yourself and expect to win.

Extreme unsecured debt

17 years 6 months ago
Here's the story. Wife quit work to pursue her own business. Husband received a 30% pay cut from his employer. All savings depleted and considerable credit card debt ($120,000.00 with 10+ cards) acummulated over the last few years. Wife's business is still unprofitable. No late payments yet, but will be unable to cover minimum payments on all debts and mortgages in the very near future. Any ideas on where to start and what to do? Would the credit card companies work with us if we contact them directly?

Sued by Citibank in NYS

17 years 6 months ago
Hello. I have received a summons regarding a large amount of cc debt owed to Citibank. Attorney sent letter about three months ago. I sent validation letter because the amount claimed was well over credit limit (by about $10k). Never received validation. Now the summons to provide an answer. In NYS Supreme Court, who do I send the answer to the attorney or the court? I'm still angry that the debt was not validated and about all of the bailout billions Citi is getting.
