What is the statute of limitations for collecting an owed debt, that has been bought by RJM Aquisitions.

Ok I have several medical bills. The hospital has now served me a summons due to non payment. I have had several money issues, card debit you name. I did loose my job last year and the job I was able to find was half the salary i was making. Any ideas to beat this.?

this is a pretty messed up story. In 1998 I was served by the court saying a judgement had been awarded against me for an alleged $11k by a cc company for non repayment. I had nothing at the time and never responded even though for the purposes of this forum I do not agree that the debt was even mine. Fast forward five years later and unbeknown to me, the "judgement" was sold to some third party CA for $11.00.

Does anyone happen to know where I can find the Statute of Limitations in FL on a debt. Thanks

I had a credit card (Providian) in 1999. It went into default in 2002. The original limit was $1000 but after they added all of the over limit and late fees it got up to $2500 and I just couldn't afford the monthly payments. Last night I got a call from Asset Acceptance. They now say that I owe $3500. She admitted that $1200 was "interest." They want to settle with me for $748. (I just do not have that. it wouldn't be possible.) The thing is, I pulled my credit report and it shows that the debt will be taken off next April.

Hi all, I just worked out a settlement with a credit card company and they are want to get the deal done before November 1st which makes getting a letter in the mail from them or sending them anything regular mail imposable. My question is, is an email from them stating the settlement amount and that it will pay the debt in full, and that it will appear as settled in full on the credit report the same as getting something in the mail? Is an email considered legal documentation? Thanks for the help, CJ.
