Credit Problems

17 years 7 months ago
I have an old credit card debt from college. I believe the statute of limitations has run out but the account keeps being sold to new collection companies. Each time this happens, does the statute of limitations begin all over again? How can I find out exactly when the statute of limitations runs out? I am in Texas so I think it is four years. But, if it keeps starting over it will go on forever.

PRA took money out of my checking account!

17 years 7 months ago
I've been going back and forth with portfolio recovery associates for 6 months who is trying to collect on a debt that is out of SOL. I sent them 3 DV letters and they have yet to validate. All they send back is a letter in their letterhead saying that I do owe it. In their last letter. they threathened to sue. I responded by letting them know that I knew this debt was past the SOL so it would be a waste of time for them. Yesterday, they debitted out $3K from my checking account!!!! I never gave them permission. I didnt even know they had my checking info! I never gave it to them!!

advice re collection attempt

A CA is calling me now for nonpayment of a $250 charge to have my car doors unlocked last fall. I was at a church service in another state with my 2 toddlers and locked the keys in the car by accident. I was fuming when the guy asked for $250 -- he had said it would be less on the phone -- but paid it since my kids were exhausted and crying for a nap. He had me at his mercy and he knew it. On Monday I called other locksmiths in the area and asked them what the charge would be from them (not saying what I was charged) and they all quoted < $100. I was so angry I stopped payment on the check.

Payday loan troubles

I have not been having much luck with this. Bank of America will not put a balance hold on my account and I went to 2 banks. I have not heard anything from any of the loan companies except loanpoint making arrangements which were unacceptable. Maybe these places are legal and I just don't know. Would anyone happen to know that information? I am in Illinois. Huskhawk marketing summit group loanpoint usa stcadvance instantcash

Integrity Debt Relief Group scam – is it really so?

17 years 7 months ago
Anyone know or heard of it? Hard to keep all the similar names separate. Sounds too good to be true, but... They claim to rewrite the contract with the CC companies/debtors, send with a late payment, and if cc cashes check, they agree to new terms. And violations, such as attaching late fees are penalized $500-$2500. Etc, etc. Do they offer guarantees? Are they a scam? I really need help here,... _________________

What should I do?

My daughter had a tonselectomy in October. We tried to credit from the hospital to make payments on the bill. It was sent to a collection agency. My husband doesn't work in the spring so our income is limited. This year was worse than ever because of excess snow. When he goes back to work we have to play catch up for the last four months. Anyway, in July I spoke with the collection agency that had the hospital debt. The agent agreed to work with me month to month. So I would figure out our bills and then call and tell her how much I would be sending.

Daniels & Norelli - Resurgent Capital - what to do next?

17 years 7 months ago
So in college I made a poor decision, got a Chase card, threw 3000 on it, and never paid it. This was 2004. I was served a summons in 2005 to go to court in Erie County, NY. I never went because I had no money and thought by not going I would be ok. Dumb move. Recently I called Erie County to see if I had a judgment against me and of course I did, for about 4500. I have recently been contacted by Daniels & Norelli and the lady I spoke with is a real piece of work. Her name is Sherry Crass, and boy is she ever. I've been working very hard to get my debts reduced and clear up my credit.

Collection agencies

This is not a question but a comment: When a creditor sells your information or debt to a collection agency they don't communciate with one another effectively. Both parties are continuously and aggressively trying to collect your money. If you pay off a debt---always keep your receipt of payment and pay by cashiers check or personal check -- once they cash in on the payment request a confimation of payment along with a letter stating that the debt was satisfied in full from the creditor.

We got a great surprise in the mail today  A letter from Flash loans, stating that our account has been marked paid in full along with 2 money orders, one for $375 and one for $1000. I just said holy @$#^! It actually worked. One down, quite a few more to go.
