phoenix debt leaving a message threating with processing

17 years 7 months ago
So I am sitting at work, waiting for the day to end. My wife calls up and asks me to check her cell for messages and there is a message from Mr. Carter threating me with processing me if I don't call him back. I looked up the phone number through this site and find out it's phoenix debt management. Most likely they bought up the debt for one of our old IPDLs. Seeing what other people had written on here, this is what I've decided to do.

What are the consequences of sending a cease and desist letter? What about if the letter says, I will work with the original creditor to resolve this debt but I will not work with you, the debt collector?

Question for Soaplady

17 years 7 months ago
Back in 2002 I defaulted on 2 student loans from Sallie Mae. I then rehabbed them successfully. Aren't the negative marks supposed to be taken off my credit report? The reason I ask is because I'm looking at my credit report and see the original loans marked in the 'negative' category as 'charged off', but then in the 'good' category those same loans appear.

so my credit sux.. :( and I'm tired of it. Two days ago I received a phone call from a creditor about a wells fargo credit card that I got in 1996 and didnt pay off. Obviously the debt was purchased. The woman on the phone was saying "we will have to file with the Los Angeles County..." but I have no idea what that means...? file for what? and can they really try to collect on a debt thats 12 years old?? also, I have a few small amounts on my credit report, can I send a letter to those companys and request to pay it and then ask them to remove it from my report?

I really like this letter.....has anyone used it?

17 years 7 months ago
Date: Re: Dear Sir/ Madam, I am presently going through some financial difficulties and fear that I will not be able to meet my monthly payments to you. I do not want to declare bankruptcy and want to try and work out an alternate payment plan so that I dont have to default on this debt. I would like to suggest a strategy if it is acceptable.

Smart way to use a credit card?

17 years 7 months ago
I've had a credit card for the last three months and everything is going great - I don't carry a balance and pay everything in full online before there is even a bill. I basically use it as if it was a debit card - never buying anything I don't have the money for right now. Here's my question...I want to use my card because I rack up points for every dollar spent. In a few months, the 0% interest rate is going to change to 16.9%.

One card has gone to a lawyer and they are filling papers etc. While trying to talk and negotiate a settlement with the lawyers office the lady said, " I have the solution to your problem but you need to ask it I'm not allowed to tell you" what could she be talking about? I also have been reading a bunch of post and I hope everybody relizes that forginess of debt is consindered income by the IRS.
