Good morning everyone, i have been on full speed since trying to clear up my credit report. I called redline recovery and discover i had a past due Sounds Advice that was open back in 2000 and last payment was made on 2004. Honestly, this bill was going to my high school sweetheart address because he was making the payments but I had my name on the card. i know, STUPID! Well, it reflects a balance of 2263 or something of that nature on all three of my accounts but when i spoke to them they said about 4k.

Since 1999 my husband and I have been living in a debt nightmare. We have had so many problems, losing jobs, living on one income, to where our savings were drained and our charge cards were maxed out. Now even working 2 jobs I still can't make ends meet. I have recently had a stroke and that has brought on more bills. I can't even live payday to payday because the money is spent on bills before I even get paid. I am scared to death and I know the stress is not helping my health-I am only 53 years old. Please give me some honest advice.

Can credit card companies ever put a lien against your property for outstanding debt/unpaid balances? What happens to your credit score when you go through this process of not paying the cc companies and then settling with them? Do they become 'charge offs" on your credit report? if so, how long does it take your credit score to recover?

A $15,000 debt I owe to Chase was recently charged off and sent to a collection agency. I called Chase today and asked the customer rep, "who owns my debt, Chase or GC Services?" She said Chase owns it and GCS is working on their behalf. I told her I am now able to start making payments again, but she told me once an account has been charged off I have to deal with CA. Is that true? I don't want to deal with the CA. I'd rather deal with Chase since they're the ones who own my debt. This was just a customer rep I was talking to.

once they start is there any way out of having your wages garnished short of bankruptcy?

I sent a letter to Equidata. There are 5 accounts listed on my credit report with no amounts listed for the amounts due., and in each box N/D is listed nothing else. But this showwith 5 different account numbers. Which by the way only list the last 5 digits. They sent a letter back stating they could not find my account number and want me to calll them with my correct account number and or social security number to help them retrieve the account.

Well we are going to be under mandatory evacuations starting at 8am tomorrow. I live along the cost in Texas and while we might not get the full force of the middle we are definatly going to be on the dirty side of it. I'd rather take the brunt because the dirty side of means a lot of flooding, especially if it decided to stall. My family is going to head out tomorrow likely twards Waco, Austin, or Dallas.

I have been getting letters in the mail and phone calls regarding pasts debt but I am now unemployed and have no income yet I am afraid to call and tell them so now. What do I do? I have no money now to pay them?
