MRS Collections...Need Info

17 years 8 months ago
I talked with someone this morning trying to settle for 1/2 the amt that I owe. I owe $1200 and they'll settle for $700. (last month would've settled for $600). So, they emailed me a letter this morning as per my request and put someone elses name/account number and info on it. I was livid. I assumed that all of my info was more than likely going to someone else. She called back after I emailed her telling her it was a hippa violation to disclose someone elses information. She said it wasn't then asked why I was so angry blah blah blah. She did resend me the the right letter.

I AM NOW FREE OF PAYDAY LOANS - JUST FOR TODAY

This payday loan cycle is just nuts! I did a $1,200 loan with CashNetUSA over the internet and did all the extensions, etc. I finally paid it off completely with my paycheck that was direct deposited today. The last draft they took was for $800.00. I actually made myself add up how much I really paid for that $1,200 loan and after all the interest I paid over $2,568.00! I paid more in interest than the entire amount I borrowed. I just can not believe how much a clutch these companies have on us all.

Got scammed on debt settlement, how do I proceed?

17 years 8 months ago
I was working with someone (Sifxpert) who was supposed to settle my accounts for me, but he just ended taking my money. I am going to try to settle my accounts on my own, but I am wondering if I should try to settle with the collection companies, or the original creditor?

How do I avoid giving my address

17 years 8 months ago
I have been called several times by First Source Advantage, who apparently is working for Arrow Financial. They are trying to collect on an old JC Penney account debt. The problem is that I never had a JC Penney account. They have my relevant identifying information correct, but they have an old address and I’ve moved a few times since then. I am about to send them a letter to verify the debt, which I suspect they can’t, but I just have a gut feeling from talking to these guys (and reading about them) that they aren’t going away anytime soon regardless.

PDL's in Iowa

17 years 8 months ago
I've been reading the posts and am a little confused at how this site works. I have three PDL, all from three stores here in Iowa. I owe the following: Advance America - $300/original loan was $500 Check into Cash - $300/original loan was $500 MoneyX - $500/none paid to date The first two are from accounts I have now closed so they can't get $ from the bank. The third one is on a new account I opened about a month ago - I don't have the money in the account for them to take and Wells Fargo never pays, they always bounce.

Well, it has been a long time! Since my last post, I have managed to get my credit report cleaned up. There are no longer any signs if my financial troubles year ago! Most of the stuff came off as it should have over the first half of the year because the 7-year anniversary had passed. Others, were removed due to my requests for validation that the creditors could not complete, thus had to legally remove from my credit report. I have not received any further calls or letters for anything in my name in over 6 months!

Accepting reduced balance

17 years 8 months ago
I am behind on one of my store credit cards and I received a letter from them offering to reduce my balance by 30% if I agree to make 6 monthly payments to pay off the account. I can make the payments they suggested but I have a question about one of the statements on the offer. It says "Your account will be reported to the credit bureaus as "Account legally paid in full for less than the full balance".
