If you write a check for a store front payday loan in South Carolina and dont pay can you be arrested for writing a bad check? I have three store front and three internet payday loans. I am over my head with these and other debts and fear going to jail. Please help.

Okay - so, I spoke with my CU re these PDLs that continue to debit my account - one example is a company that the principal balance was $300 and I've now paid about $700 - anyway, my state says no renewals or extensions are allowable and they can only charge $15 per $100 loaned. And, max term is 31 days. So, here's the big question.......the CU said they can go back 60 days and asked if I wanted any of the payments returned and credited back to my account? That almost sounds like I'd be asking for more trouble than just revoking the ACH. Any opinions on this one? THANKS

I have 8 pdl's and I live in Illinois. I have tried to tell these places they are not legal and I will pay back the principal plus what my state allows but they will not take no for an answer I am 30 days behind on them so far and they are beginning to contact me at work.

Hi! I have an outstanding debt for around 5k. The debt was for a car loan. I stopped making payments in early 2004 due to lack of funds. The car was repossessed in April 2004. I was told I would have to pay the difference on the loan after the sale of the car. The difference came to about 5k. I could not pay and eventually the debt was taken by a collection agency. My credit report shows the account was closed with the original credit institution (Telyesis Credit Union) but does NOT list a collection agency that bought the debt.

First off all this happened about 4 years ago when I turned 18! I decided to move out of my parents home and in doing so I decided to get credit for everything and i have about 8 negative accounts and 1 judgement. But I also now about 8 months ago was approved for a car loan and i did jump on the oppurtunity knowing that it would benefit my score, I have not missed one car payment. Now you have the history: Wondering if there is anything I can do to get the judgement off my credit reports?
