Incorrect Account Number on Validation Letter

17 years 8 months ago
So, I sent Asset Acceptance a validation letter request. They sent me something back with the original creditor, my name, the last four of my SSN, the current balance, my last transaction date and the account number. Oddly though, the account number does not match the account number that I had with the original creditor. This further perturbs me because they added interest to my debt for nearly 7 months before making me aware of such because they were sending letters to an address that I never resided at. I'm not sure what to do with this information. Any advice?

Very Interesting Stuff to Ponder

17 years 8 months ago
What with the Olympics ending and the Democrats starting their bash in Denver this week, it's interesting to turn my mind to the campaign and each candidate's position on predatory lenders and payday loans. I know that Obama has supported a cap of 36 percent interest on all PDL's, ie, bringing the law that military members are covered under to all Americans, but as we now know, his running mate is Joe Biden, the Senator from Delaware. And as we who have suffered from internet PDL's know, Delaware is the IPDL capital of the USA. Any speculations??

Chat Room Ideas

Since we are about to get it back, I have given some thought as to how it can be responsibly used. As I don't want to lose it again, I wanted to run my ideas past everyone here before bringing them to the community. I propose having chats on specific topics at different times during the week. Bearing in mind different timezones, I think that we as moderators should each take turns perhaps moderating each chat to make sure things don't go off the deep end, if you get my drift.

hello everybody, Just when i thought that i was getting a handle on this payday loan thing, something else happens. I originally had three. Amscot, who are working with me, very nice people. Then there is cashnetusa and BIG. last week i sent them both cease and desist letters. I have paid BIG approx. 700.oo on an initial loan of 200.00, they want be getting anymore. I tried to work something out with cashnet sending them a payment plan in my letters. Anyway i put a stop payment on cashnet. today i look at my account and it is 700.00 overdrawn. cashnet broke the payment up into two payments.

This member has an attitude, yes, he/she has a right to their opinion, but I think it's pretty low when he/she purposely attacks another member and nonchalantly calls Alias names simply because he/she disagrees with a post which was made. There are better ways of correcting misinformation besides name calling. Just sayin'! :?

validation notice

17 years 8 months ago
I sent debt vaildation to Premium Asset Recovery for old medical bills. I finally received what they consider a validation notice. The only thing listed on this is the original creditor, amount owed, date and amt due. It also states that if I requested a detailed statment , it has been ordered from the original creditor. I requested a copy of the original signed papers saying I owed this debt WHICH WAS NOT INCLUDED. From what I've read what they sent me is not debt validation- since I requested the signed documents.

Please give advice

My girlfriend has $5000 in credit card debt and a $30,000 student loan. Her average interest rate on the credit cards is 20%+, because she couldn't afford to pay on time. Her minimum monthly payments on the credit cards and student loan amount to $750/month, more than 1/3rd of her income, which is $2000/mo. We live in Los Angeles, and it costs a lot more than $1250 for standard living expenses. She'd like to find a way to economically pay down her debt without completely destroying her credit (which is already bad). What are her best options in the Los Angeles area?
